161st street will be the story on Sunday for on Alex Rodriguez. That’s Yankee Stadium for all of you who might not know. The choosen one weather fair or unfair will be judged as a big time baseball player or just a flash in the pan. It comes with the being in a New York uniform yeah its wonderful when you win, but it like hell when you loose. Just ask Patrick Ewing or John Starks for the Knicks and they will tell you its a price to pay when you play for New York City. Now Alex Rodriguez steps in his moment of glory on Sunday and try’s to be named as one of the greats in New York such as Babe Ruth,Lawrence Taylor and Walt Fraizer, but if he doesn’t perform on the biggest stage in sports his legacy fair or unfair is someone who couldn’t handle the bright lights of the big city.

Boy what a way to start the playoffs then a extra inning rally for a win. That is exactly what happen last night in Colorado as the Rockies rallied from a 2-run deficit to win 9-8 in 13 innings. In the top of the 13th Jerry Hairston hit a two-run homer to lift the Padres to an 8-6 lead and then handed the game over to future Hall of Famer and all-time saves leader Trevor Hoffman. In a game on Saturday Hoffman had a chance to wrap up the Wild Card spot for the Padres when with two out in the botom of the ninth and the Padres leading 3-2 he gave up a rbi triple to of all people Tony Gwynn Jr, who’s dad had a HOF career with the Padres, then lost the game along with the game on Sunday to cause this one game playoff last night. What is better than one game to decide it all? That is what the San Diego Padres and the Colorado Rockies will get to answer tonight as they square off in a one game playoff to see who gets to play the red hot Phillies in the NLDS on Wednesday. Josh Fogg(10-9 4.79 era) will start for the Rockies and Cy Young award canidate Jake Peavy(19-6 2.36 era) for the Padres. October is officially here and its playoff time. Bud Selig is probaly the luckiest man on the planet for having a product far greater than he who runs it.
