The NFL mourns the lost of one the greats. Gene Upshaw dies of cancer at the age of 63. Upshaw played 15 years with the Oakland Raiders and was a seven time pro ball player. Upshaw was the players representive and brought free agency to the NFL. After seeing sports like baseball and basketball making good money due free agency. Upshaw thought it was the players best intrest to make sure NFL players get free agency. Upshaw was part of a strike that help uplift player salaries from 90,000 to 1.75 million. In 1987 Upshaw was elected into the Hall of Fame. Upshaw who has helped the current players do very well, but was criticzed on how he treated the veterans in the past. Former players were not too happy with Upshaw and the way he was handling the insurance policy and financially of ex-NFL players. There were several ex-players who were upset with Upshaw and there were even and organization named the NFLGRIDIRONGREATS. Which one of the spokesperson was Mike Ditka. Ditka was so passion about this cause, Ditka went to even boycott the Hall of fame ceremonies. But no matter what you may think of Upshaw he left his mark on this sport. And by many in the NFL was respected and that’s all we can ask for at the end of the day, RESPECT.

All I have to say Spector is the only guy to show some heart. Look at this whole spy gate mess and the best reason for the taping by the Patriots is we didn’t understand the rules? WTF.. who are the Patriots fooling? Bill Belechick who has been in the NFL for over half of his life, now is saying that he didn’t understand the rules? Arlen Spector who is a senator for Pennsylvania and a Pittsburgh Steelers fan has been putting heat on Roger Goodell “ASS” to look into this whole spy gate aka cheating Patriots. The funny thing about this whole spy gate mess is that Roger Goodell with all this integrity talk is now sounding like he is full of S&*(t. Remeber Mike Vick oh he is such a bad stain on the NFL and we have to keep a face so Vick you’re suspended. Roger Goodell you’re a “PUNK” and need to be impeached ASAP. Just in case there you think I’m just pouring hateraid check out what your man Joey Porter says about spy gate. (more…)

It’s Free Agent Friday and team owners will be breaking out the checkbooks in the NFL. Here are some of the most sought after free agents.
Free agent: CB Asante Samuel
One of the best corners in the biz but will come at a hefty price. Dolphins have the money, and Bill Parcells loves shutdown corners in his defense. Problem here is Asante will want more money than the Dolphins may be willing to spend.
Free agent: G Alan Faneca A solid O-lineman that can handle most pass rushers, also a pretty good run blocker as well. Willie Parker will definately miss this guy. The Jets would benefit going after this guy to help mentor and lead the Jets young O-Line. Problem here is he wants to go to a contender and the Patriots don’t have a need for O-Line.
Free agent: WR Bernard Berrian Deep threat and solid hands will make this guy a coveted free agent. What team does’nt need one of these? Raiders, Bucs, Titans have strong arm QB’s that will help the Offense. Problem here is just two years removed from the superbowl Berrian may not jump at just any deal. (more…)

A lot of people have asked me what is the purpose of the Combine. Well the short version is, there are things that coaches can’t teach that you can see at the combine. Like speed, agility, personality. Also the things that coaches can teach, but want to know how much work needs to be invested in a player. You don’t want a guy who will take a long time to grasp formations, schemes, or will take a long time to get into shape. The overall question is can they play? If these other things are in place then playing on that level “should” come to them easily. Sunday was skill postion day for the offense: QB,RB,WR,. Here are some of the 40 times for RBs and WRs.
