Right before my eyes the 07-08 Florida Gator basketball team delivered one of the best performances in Gator history. A 90-83 victory in Tuscaloosa over Alabama. Now what makes this victory all the more sweeter was the fact that they were on the road. In a place that has been a house of horrors over the years. A fantastic performance from Jai Lucas, Nick Calathes, and Walter Hodge sparked the Gator comeback. Down by ten,47-37, Lucas drove the length of the court pulled up at the three point line and nailed a three before the buzzer slicing the lead to seven. That proved to be the biggest basket of the night as the Gators used that to spark the second half turnaround. Playing their first conference game without the “oh fours”, Al Horford, Joakhim Noah, Corey Brewer, and Taurean Green, This young squad may have put the rest of the conference on notice that this maybe a team to reckon with. Calathes paced the Gators with 21 points and 9 assist, Lucas added 19 points, Hodge had career high 17 and Dan Werner chipped in with 12 points and 7 rebounds. For Alabama Alonzo Gee had a game high 32 points, and Richard Hendrix added a double double 24 points and 16 boards.

Rivalry Week. One of the best weeks in the football season. With games such as Florida-Florida State, Georgia-Georgia Tech, Texas-Texas A&M. This weekend also gives us Kansas-Missouri and also Hawaii-Boise State. Now I know the latter has not been a rivalry for that long but this year Hawaii has a chance to steal a BCS berth with a victory and also claim the WAC title. The former pits two top 5 teams in a matchup that will decide the Big 12 north champ as well. I might as well say it now Tim Tebow will win the Heisman with another stellar performance against the Seminoles. There I said it( for like the tenth time huh). Let the predictions begin…………….. With no disrespect to Steve Slaton and Pat White of West Virginia to me the most dynamic duo of this College Football season has to be the combination of Tim Tebow and Percy Harvin. One, Tebow, came to Gainesville with all the fanfare in the world and has lived up to every bit of the hype. (more…)

With the NBA tipping off tonight that means only one thing College Basketball is not far behind. Coming into this season there will be a different look to the scene. For one the two time reigning champs will have a brand new starting five make that a brand new team all together. If not for a reversal of fortune the Florida Gators would have a new coach as well. Billy Donovan originally took the Orlando Magic before feeling that the decision was not the right one. Now he has the task of rebuilding, I mean reloading, his program picked to finish fourth in the SEC East. (more…)

Man will this epidemic ever stop. Top 5 teams losing every week. I have never seen a College Football season go like this. My Gators have two losses, LSU lost to Kentucky ( not in basketball), Stanford beat USC, Colorado beat Oklahoma, Kansa State beat Texas, can you see where I’m going with this. Now this week Ohio State is in the hot seat as the number 1 team in the nation. Can they survive? Let’s get to the predictions shall we……………. (more…)

Another great Saturday in College football is complete. I mean what can you say about the sport that seems to just get better with every week. More so than any year I can remember no team is invincible. I mean this has been the greatest year of football that I can ever remember. On Saturday it was dubbed as “Gut Check Saturday” and for some they passed with flying colors. (more…)
