West Region up Next……
Wednesday, March 26th, 2008 |Welcome to the region of defense. With teams like UCLA and Xavier this is truly not for the faint of heart. The Bruins allowed the Aggies only 10 points in the last 15 minutes of their second round matchup. Xavier in both of their wins against Georgia and Purdue were able to apply defesive pressure at the right time to pull off victories.
UCLA opens against the darlings of the tournament Western Kentucky. Kevin Love will prove to be too much for Courtney Lee and Tyronne Brazelton. The Bruins will need to get more production from Shipp, Westbrook and the rest of those guys. Darren Collison and Love can’t combine for 75% of the offense. The Bruin defense is just too tough.
The Musketeers continue their rivalry against a coach who they simply hate in Bob Huggins. Huggins has helped the Mountaineer faithful forget about the fued the school has with former coach Rich Rodriguez. Joe Alexander has shown that he can take over a ball game when he needs to. Don’t sleep on tough minded guys like Alex Ruoff. This should be the bes game of the region semis.
In the end UCLA and Xavier move on.
