The Seattle Storm must really be feeling the love today because a group of season ticket-holders made sure that their favorite team didn’t go anywhere.  The Force 10 Hoops LLC, a group of four women have a purchase option to buy the Seattle Storm from Seattle SuperSonic owner Clay Bennett for $10 million.  Former Seattle Deputy Mayor Anne Levinson led the Force 10 Hoops deal, which has until the end of February to close.  The agreement was finalized in the last few days and ensures the Storm will remain in Seattle, while Bennett continues to push the Sonics to his hometown of Oklahoma City.   This news also came with reports that there may be a new head coach, Brian Agler.  He is an assistant coach with the WNBA San Antonio Silver Stars.  Neither the Storm nor the Silver Stars would corfirm hiring.

WNBA UPDATE

wnba-a.JPG

Atlanta’s new WNBA team will officially tip off its season on May 17th.  The first game will be against the Connecticut Sun, but the first home game of the season will be on May 23rd against Bill Laimbeer and his defending Eastern Conference Champs Detroit Shock.  As a member of the WNBA’s Eastern Conference, Atlanta’s home schedule features 10 games versus conference opponents and seven non-conference match-ups.  The league has schedule alot of games to cater around families.  Most home games will be played on Friday or Saturday at 7:30pm with three others being played on Sunday at 3pm.  One of the best games I think will be when the Lisa Leslie and the Los Angeles Sparks come to Atlanta on May 25th.  Early January 2008, we should know what the team name, logo and colors will be.  Stay tuned to Sideline Show for all updates.
