And yo know I’m gonna be right Snitchesssssss………….
Ok so what if my bracket was torn up two weeks when I predicted that Memphis was gonna lose to Mississippi State in the second round and what ya know they go to the Final Four. Go figure. Then I also predicted that Butler would beat Tennessee. How bout Georgetown coming together as a team and holding on to a 17-point lead against a Davidson team we knew nothing about. NOT!!!!!! Little did we know that Davidson has a special player in young Stephen Curry. Son of NBA sharpshooter Dell Curry, Stephen showed he had a real knack for getting to the hole. All the while being able to be a marksmen from NBA range. Being a 90% free throw shooter is like stealing points for him. On his way to 40 points against Gonzaga, 30 against Georgetown, 35 on Wisconsin, and another 25 against Kansas. Now everyone is talking about his future in the NBA. What I do have still is UCLA winning the whole thing. I only have two of the Final Four right ( North Carolina). Go figure , me this bad……………. it hurts: (more…)

The regional semi’s and finals provided few stellar games but many stellar performances. For the first time ever all number 1 seeds made it through their respective brackets. Memphis may have been the most impressive by trouncing the Michigan State Spartans and Texas Longhorns. Neither game was close. Against the Spartans the lead swelled to as much 30 before taking their foot off the gas to win by 19. Against the Longhorns DJ Augustine could not get himself going or his teammates going. With the inside presence of Joey Dorsey and Robert Dozier along with super freshman Derrick Rose proved to be too much in a 82-64 win. (more…)

Welcome to the region of defense. With teams like UCLA and Xavier this is truly not for the faint of heart. The Bruins allowed the Aggies only 10 points in the last 15 minutes of their second round matchup. Xavier in both of their wins against Georgia and Purdue were able to apply defesive pressure at the right time to pull off victories.
UCLA opens against the darlings of the tournament Western Kentucky. Kevin Love will prove to be too much for Courtney Lee and Tyronne Brazelton. The Bruins will need to get more production from Shipp, Westbrook and the rest of those guys. Darren Collison and Love can’t combine for 75% of the offense. The Bruin defense is just too tough.

The Musketeers continue their rivalry against a coach who they simply hate in Bob Huggins. Huggins has helped the Mountaineer faithful forget about the fued the school has with former coach Rich Rodriguez. Joe Alexander has shown that he can take over a ball game when he needs to. Don’t sleep on tough minded guys like Alex Ruoff. This should be the bes game of the region semis.
In the end UCLA and Xavier move on.

Mine is f’ed up man f’ed up!!!!!! Sorry I got a little upset, but thanks for asking. At the beginning of March Madness I had a few picks that drew the high eyebrow look from a chosen few of my associates. I said to myself I’ll show them with picks such as Butler over Tennessee, Mississippi State over Memphis, and Clemson reaching the Elite Eight. Needless to say none of those picks panned out. My Midwest region is done. (more…)

College Basketball this year has been outstanding. There is not a team on can say is just going to run away and hide in the tournament. Yes Memphis is unbeaten and seemingly is going to run the table, but let’s look closer shall we. In a victory against UTEP the Tigers hit only 18 of 35 free throws in winning the game by four. Also take a look at the conference that Memphis plays in. Conference USA is not one of the toughest at all. That leads to Memphis coming into the tournament not peaking and not being able to win it all. Duke went into the Dean Dome and beat down a shorthanded North Carolina team playing without point guard Ty Lawson. Duke is a team without a lot of size but can shoot the three from all five positions on the floor and can close you out by hitting their free throws. They also play descent defense. Norht Carolina on the other hand can score with anybody but really can’t stop you. That will be there downfall. With player of the year canidate Tyler Hansborough anything can happen. Kansas for the last two years may have had the best collection of talent in college hoops. What they don’t have is a proven go to guy who thrives under pressure. That could prove costly come tournament time. When you absolute need a basket you need that guy to give it to you. Just about every other team has that I don’t know if Kansas has one. UCLA maybe the toughest team in basketball. Darren Collison leads the best defensive team in the nation. Also they Freshman of the Year leader Kevin Love anchoring the post. Add in a mix of Josh Shipp’s athleticism and a coach who teaches and preaches defensive stops UCLA may cut down the nets in the end. Luckily for them Florida lost their entire team.
