“Now the regular season begins,” said Kobe Bryant after the Lakers beat the defending champs the San Antoino Spurs 100-92 last night to advance to the NBA Finals. The Lakers won at home to make this a sweet victory. Bryant scored 17 of his 39 points in the fourth quarter and the Lakers had to fight most of the night to come back from an early 17-point deficit. Pau Gasol had 12 points and a career playoff-high 19 rebounds, five assists and four blocked shots. Tony Parker scored 23 points and Tim Duncan had 19 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists for the Spurs.

For the first time the defending champions lose at home and now face elimination as the Los Angeles Lakers now lead the series 3-1. The Lakers beat the Spurs 93-91 on Tuesday night. Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 28 points and 10 rebounds. Lamar Odom, who played a very poor game in Game 3 scored 16 pts and Pau Gasol had 10 pts and 10 rebounds.

Kobe Bryant may not have started the game the way his teammates would have liked it but by the end of the fourth it all came together. In Game 1 of the Western Finals the Lakers showed the Spurs just how we do it L.A. with a 89-85 victory. Bryant scored 25 of his 27 pts in the second half. The free throws that he hit gave L.A. their first lead in the fourth quarter. Tim Duncan did have his way down low, scoring a game-high 30 pts and 18 rebounds. Pau Gasol was in double figures, scoring 18 and Sasha Vujacic put in the final free throws to seal the deal.

VS. 
The Western Conference Finals kicks off tonight. The Lakers Vs. Spurs will meet to see who will win the west and go to the NBA Finals. From 1999-2007 these two teams have 7 championships between them. San Antonio Spurs the ultimate professionals not too flashy all about team and don’t care who gets to be the man on there team. The L.A. Lakers lead by Kobe Bryant this is the leader of the team. Bryant is still trying to get out of the shadow of Shaquille O’Neal who lead the Lakers to three Championships, but now it’s a new day in Laker land the past is the past and now the Lakers are all about Kobe Bryant. The New Orleans Hornets was coming back home for game 7. The fans were behind them and a lot of NBA experts had the Hornets beating the Champions the Spurs. The Spurs had a lot against them going on the road trying to win a game 7 in a loud and wild enviornment. The Spurs also have never come back from being down 2-0 and the Spurs lost the first two games of the series to the young Hornets. Now everything seemed to be in the favor of the Hornets expect one old rule. To be the man you got to beat the man and when all was said and done the Champs are still here. (more…)
