Last night the Detroit Pistons sealed the deal by beating the Orlando Magic 91-86 to advance to their sixth-consecutive Eastern Conference Finals. They won this game at home so it made it even more special. Orlando had a chance to come back within the last few minutes, but Tayshaun Prince blocked Hedo Turkoglu’s dunk with 16 seconds left. The Pistons top performers was Richard Hamilton who led the team with 31 pts and Antoino McDyess with 17 pts and 11 rebounds. Chauncey Billups is stilled sidelined with that sore hamstring. Dwight Howard had a double double with 14 pts and 17 rebounds. With this win, Detroit now must wait for the winner of the Celtic-Cavs series. They play tonight in Boston and the series is tied 2-2. Congrats to Detroit, but I still think without Billups in the lineup they may have a tough time in this next round. Only time will tell.

The Detriot Pistons have been to the Eastern Conference 5 years in a row. On Saturday you seen why the Pistons are considred one of best franchises in the NBA. Chaucey Billups was out due to a bad right hamstring that the all star guard had in game 3 in quarter one. The Pistons who with this team has won a championship before showed today they know how to win. Richard Hamilton may have had one of his best games of his career. Hamilton scored 32 shot 12-24 from the field in all there were 3 players for the Pistons in double figures. Rasheed Wallace who scored 16 had this to say about the win.”We just played ‘D’ — that’s what we do, “It was a physical game on both sides of the ball. That is our style; we like being physical. We just wish we could do that more often.” Magic played the Pistons tough and the game could’ve went either way, but Dwight Howard had and a playoff low 8 points . Howard went 3-12 from the field and the Magic who played well came up short and most of it maybe due to the lack of scoring of Howard. “I missed a lot of shots, just had a little frustrated night,” Howard said. “Nothing I can do about it — just come back next game and get a little better.” The Pistons are now up 3-1 and look to close out the series on Tuesday.

The Detriot Pistons came into game 3 with taking complete control of the series. The Pistons if they win will have a 3-0 lead and will be looking at and easy way to get to the Eastern Conference Final for the 6th straight season. For the Magic this a desprate game for them they haven’t beat the Pistons in the playoffs in years and they as a team knew if they didn’t win game 3 and 4 this series is over. (more…)

The Orlando Magic came into tonight to prove that they can play with the Detroit Pistons. In game 1 the Pistons beat the pants off Orlando and it was no contest. Tonight Orlando wanted to show the Pistons this wasn’t going to be no cake walk and as a team Orlando will be here for a long series. The turning point in this game was the 2nd quarter where the Pistons out scored the Magic 21-11. For the Pistons there were 5 players in double figures. Lead by Chauncey Billups with 28 points. The Pistons shot at 47% and the Magic was at 43%. Dwight Howard who and awful time in game 1 turned it around this time for game 2. Howard 22 points and 18 rebounds lead his team in both stats. This game had a controversy refree Steve Javie at the end of the third quarter Chauncey Billups hit a three pointer and it seemed it didn’t count and after all replays the conclusion came to the basket count and the Pistons were on there way to the win. The Pistons are now up 2-0. If you’re the Magic one thing you can take out of this game is that you can compete with the Pistons and now that your going home you should be able to tie up this best of 7 going back to the Palace. Game 3 will take place in Orlando.

Tonights game at the Pallace is huge for the Orlando Magic. The Orlando Magic who lost game 1 91-72. The Pistons has now a 1-0 lead in the best of 7. Chancey Billups lead all scores with 19 points for the Pistons. Dwight Howard put his worst scoring performance for the playoffs with 12 points and injury a bad thumb maybe the reason why Dwight Howard wasn’t his normal dominat self. The Magic needs to get a win tonight due to the Pistons as veteran team will probably get one out of two in Orlando. To make matters worse for the Magic the Pistons have won seven straight game 2’s in a row . The last lost the Pistons had date back to June 12, 2005. The game take place tonight on TNT at 7pm.

Howard once again average a double double with 21 points and 21 rebounds. The Magic destroyed the Raptots on the board out rebounding the Raptors 55-37. Chris Bosh of the Raptors had this to say about the Magic’s Dwight Howard ”He’s a phenom; he’s the best center in the league,” . “He’s probably the strongest guy in the league, and he knows how to use his body. It doesn’t surprise me at all. I’ve seen him play this whole series, I’ve seen him play this season.” The Orlando Magic not since 1996 wins a playoff round and now gets to move on and take Philadelphia or Detriot.
