Palvik Wins By Decision!!!

Sunday, February 17th, 2008 |

Kelly Pavlik and Jermain Taylor

Fight fans were treated to and explosive rematch tonight in the Super MiddleWeight division.  Palvik went up against Taylor and both fighters treated the fans in Las Vegas to a good follow up to the 1st fight in the in September of 07.   Taylor fought a smart fight but it seemed for Taylor to beat Palvik tonight he would’ve need it to beat Palvik soundly.  Palvik tonight who seemed to be a step slower than Taylor tonight still was able to pull out the victory due to a great jab and putting pressure on Taylor, but Taylor had landed the clean blows and even hurt Palvik a couple times through the fight. The judges scored the bout  117-111,115-113 and 116-112 all in favor for Plavik.

“We both did a better job tonight than the first fight,” Pavlik said. “The key was inside pressure. My fight strategy was to put the pressure on him, back him up. My jab and punches landed more this time. Nothing will top the first victory over Jermain, but it was a great win tonight.”  Next up of Palvik is rumored to be Felix Trindand in MSG on June 7th. You got to be kidding?

Taylor Vs. Palvik-Rematch!!!

Taylor and Pavlik

On September 29th Kelly Palvik knocked out Jermain Taylor and became the new Middleweight Champion.  Taylor today has signed up for a rematch in hopes in getting his title back.  The fight for the Middleweight Championship will take place in Febuary 2008.  The former champ Taylor surprisingly did not take a warm up fight before going after his title.  This fight in 2007 was the match of the year will the rematch do the same?  Will see!!!

Taylor vs Pavlik

Monday, September 24th, 2007 |

In what could truly could be the fight of the year Jermain Taylor takes on Kelly Pavlik on Saturday September 29th. Another great thing about this fight is that it is not on PPV.  HBO will be carrying this fight live.  How great is that.  This is a matchup between two fighters that have very differnt styles.  Kelly Pavlik is a fighter who loves to pressure you and deliver the big punch.  Jermain Taylor is more of the classic style fighter who uses the jab moves and throws combo after combo to the body and the head.  At first glance for me hands down I think Taylor will win this fight.  After seeing  Pavlik run through Edison Miranda in his last fight I don’t think it will be easy.  Taylor has to keep Pavlik on the other end of his jab body punch early and often. Also Taylor has listen to his famous trainer Emanuel Steward for the entire fight not just when he wants to. That also will be a key in this fight.  For Pavlik the stradegy is simple walk through Taylor like he did Edison.  Land the big shots up the middle. Straight right hands and hooks will be how he could win this fight.  My prediction is a 12 round slugfest.  Majority decision for the winner and still middleweight champion of the world Jermain Taylor.
