John Schuerholz has done it again. Like in ‘93 the general manager of the Braves has dramaticaly made his franchise better than the rest of the National league. With the impressive deal to bring Mark Teixeira and Octavio Dotel truly give this Braves team a fighting chance in September and October. The last time the Braves organization had this much energy was when the crime dog Fred McGriff was added in 1993. That season didnot bring the Braves a championship but did lay the foundation for the ‘95 team to bring home Atlanta’s only major professional sport title. This gives Chipper, who some have called the MVP of the National League, more protection in the lineup. If Andruw Jones can pick his game up then the Braves will have a lineup without any appearant holes.

8-5 overall 3-5 SEC 6 offense 9 defense both kickers
Steve Spurrier has the people in Columbia excited about the present and future of Gamecock football. An 8-5 season that included wins over Clemson and Houston in the Liberty Bowl. A strong recruiting class has the future looking real bright. Close losses against Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Florida ( a total of three kicks blocked) have South Carolina truly on the cusp of Atlanta. More consistency will be needed from QB Blake Mitchell, Cory Boyd, and the entire offensive line. The wide receiver position took a major blow with the early departure of Sidney Rice to the NFL. Kenny McKinley should help ease the burden. Nine starters return on defense. Twins Casper and Jasper now will be starting at linebacker, as Casper will move from DE to OLB. Defensive Coordinator Tyrone Nix is one of the best coaches in the country. It could be a matter of time before South Carolina calls Atlanta home. Road games against Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, and Arkansas are the test of the schedule. then of course the budding rivalry with Florida (Nov 10).

It has truly been a fortnight since I had awaken on a Sunday morning and had breakfast at Wimbledon. Matter of fact if it didn’t have the Williams sisters in it I really had nothing to do with tennis. To watch Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal battle was truly a sight to see. It took me back to the days of Boris Becker vs. Ivan Lendl, Lendl vs. or Becker vs. Stefan Edberg on the mens side. Martina Navritiola vs. Steffi Graf, then Graf vs. Monica Seles. This was a grudge match and is becoming great for men’s tennis. Federer has won Wimbledon five years in a row. That hasnot been sen since Bjorn Borg (76-80). nadal battled to the end letting everyone know this is truly a rivalry. What could make it better is if Nadal can ever win at Wimbledon.

4-8 overall 1-7 SEC 9 offense 7 defense both kickers return
If there ever was a program that was starving for success it’s this one. Having not been to a bowl game in 24 years will do it to you. It was 2005 and all everything quarterback Jay Cutler had Vandy at 4-0 and looking good.
