The Tampa Bay Rays played in there first ever postseason game at home.  And the new guys to the postseason didn’t disapoint.  Lead by soon to be rookie of the year Evan Longoria.  Longoria hit two home runs and also drove in a round.  Longoria drove in three runs in his 1st postseason game. ”I was just looking for a pitch out over the plate I could hit,” Longoria said. “He’s always got this way about him. He’s not going to be overwhlemed by the situation. And that speaks beyond his skill level,” manager Joe Maddon said. “Obviously, his skills are very good … and he likes these moments in a non-cocky way. He’s just very confident.”

As for the White Sox who came off the one elmination game playoff against the Twins, was not able to keep Longoria bat quiet.  “This guy is a star. He’s going to be an outstanding ballplayer,” White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. “You see his face on the field, and you just know he’s going to be a great, great player.”  Will the magical ride for the Rays conitnue, or can the White Sox draw even on Friday tie this series up at 1-1?  Will just have to see if there is beginers luck or not!!!

Evan Longoria, Carlos Pena and Akinori Iwamura celebrate at home after Longoria and Pena scored runs in the seventh inning on a Gabe Gross hit.

Red Sox nation has to be wondering, what is it going to take to beat the young and upcoming Tampa Bay Rays.  Last the Rays over came a 4-1 hole and beat the Red Sox last night 7-6.  Rookie sensation Evan Longoria went 3-4 last night and drove in three runs.  Along with young stud B.J. Upton who made the play of the game with and centerfield grab.  The manager of the Rays Joe Maddon had this to say”It’s a really good feeling. I can’t tell you that I expected it — I’d be lying — but right now … we do expect to win on a nightly basis,” As for the Red Sox they are now 0-6 this season going up against the Rays at home.  And last night the Rays had a sold out game.  The Rays also when they’re having more than 30,000 in there ball park this season are 12-1. The Rays lead the American League East by 3.5 games.  But more importantly have a 5 game lead in the lost column.  It doesn’t get any easier for Boston who take the Yankees in a four game series at Yankee Stadium.
