Bobcats Take Denver’s 20th Pick

Thursday, June 26th, 2008 |

den.GIFcats.GIF

Tonight as the draft takes place the Dever Nuggets can rest easy tonight because they don’t have to worry about picking anyone for the entire draft.  The Nuggets traded their 20th pick to the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday in exchange for a future first-round pick.  Denver had already traded their second round pick to Seattle.  Denver will get Charlotte’s first-round pick next year if the Bobcats make the playoffs.  If not Charlotte will keep it.  Lets hope that they choose wisely this year.  With new head coach Larry Brown and part owner Michael Jordan they may have a slight chance.  Because we all know what happen with their 2006 draft pick from Gonzaga.    Adam Morrison did not live up to the hype.  The Bobcats have had their eye on 7-foot-2 center Roy Hibbert of Georgetown with the 20th pick.   He is expected to go late in the first round.  The Nuggets look at not having a fisrt-round pick has  saving their salary cap from having to pay the luxury tax on a rookie contract.  A future first-round pick gives the Nuggets more options in the future trade talks.  Lets see what will really happen then with Melo.  AM MORRISON

Sweeper Hold

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008 |

Auf Wiedersehen, Adios, and Sayounara are all ways to say good-bye, and that is what the Los Angeles Lakers said to the Denver Nuggets last nigth in a series sweep.  The Lakers pulled off a victory 107-101 on Denver’s homecourt to advance to the next round of the Western Conference Championships.  Kobe Bryant had 31 pts and Pau Gasol added 21 for the Lakers.  “He is unbelievable,” Luke Walton said about Bryant.  Kobe, who made big plays by any means if it was a turnaround jumper with Kenyon Martin on him, a 3-pointer, or even a drive to the basket…..Kobe made it happen.  Gasol who has never made it out of the first round, he is 0-12 in playoff series with Memphis. Denver star Carmelo Anthony accussed his team of give up fouled out of the game with 1:19 left.

Road Kill- Lakers 102 Nuggets 84 !!!

Saturday, April 26th, 2008 |

The L.A. Lakers were coming into a wild enviornment in Colorado winning the first two games at home in the Staples Center with ease there was no way the Lakers were coming into the Nuggets home and win with ease right?  Kobe Bryant who has won 3 championships but hasn’t won a playoff round since Shaquille O’Neal has left.  The story of this game is the lack of scoring from the second highest scoring team in the NBA avg 110 per game tonight they had only 84.  The two headed scoring combo of Iverson and Anthony was flat out embrassing they shot 10-38 from the field which lead to 31 points.  As a team the Nuggets shot at dismal 32% 32-86 from the floor.  The Lakers cruised the entire game had a lot of  energy and was really ready for a war but the Nuggets was just ready to run there mouth and embrassed themself on national t.v.  There were 5 players for the Lakers that were in double figures lead by Kobe Bryant with 22 and a big time spark from Derek Fisher with 14.  Fisher hit 4 three pointers in the game and was a leader on the floor the Lakers with the win has taken a comanding 3-0 and is looking to put the Nuggets out of there misery on Monday night.

As the clock winds down to end the fourth quarter the Staples Center fills with “MVP” chants from a crowd of 18,997.  The Lakers completely killed Denver last night in Game 2 122-107 and now lead the series 2-0.  Kobe Bryant who had a somewhat of a cold first game finshed yesterday with 49 pts and 10 asst -  just one away from his playoff high.  Paul Gasol added 18 pts and 10 rebounds and Luke Walton stepped up too by scoring 18 pts.

Lakerville-Lakers 128 Nuggets 114 !!!!

Sunday, April 20th, 2008 |

LOS ANGELES - APRIL 20: Lamar Odom #7 of the Los Angeles Lakers has his shot contested by Marcus Camby #23 of the Denver Nuggets in Game One of the Western Conference Quarterfinals during the 2008 NBA Playoffs at Staples Center April 20, 2008 in Los Angeles, California. Pau GaSol has been to the playoffs three times and all three times GaSol has been swept but not today.  GaSol making his Laker debut couldn’t wrote it better himself.  GaSol was all over the court today and when Kobe Bryant go himself into foul trouble it was GaSol who became the go to man.  The Nuggets had a chance to seal game from the Lakers but with no defense and horrible foul shooting the Nuggets really shot themself in the foot for the game the Nuggets shot 23-37 and for the Lakers at the foul line they shot 27-32 for 84%.  GaSol who was on the floor for 45 minutes shot 14-20 and ended up with 36 points.  Bryant who had a bad 1st half heated up in the 4 th quarter and scored 18 in the final quarter alone.  Bryant had 32 for the game.”I knew he could perform at a high level,” Kobe Bryant had to say. ”This just ain’t Memphis. I think this offense has freed him up a little bit and showcased more what he can do instead of just being in the post all the time.”"It’s tough to match up against us for a variety of reasons. We have guys that can finish, we have a a great 1-2 punch, and all of our guys can pass all ball.”
