The Jazz came to the Highlight factory as the hottest team in the NBA winning 12 in a row. The Hawks who have had a rough time on the road recently has turned it around and it has been the play of Josh Smith. Smith who had been a pain in the ass has stepped his style of play espcially on the defensive side of the ball. Smith had 22 points with 12 rebounds against the Jazz and gave the Jazz power forward Boozer all kinds of trouble. The bench scoring for the Hawks was lead by Flip Murray with 16 points. Murray was the key in the game shooting 50% from the field. Joe Johnson for the Hawks who have not been aggressive enough at least for my taste. Johnson tonight was the lead score for the game at 31. Johnson shot 50% from the floor. The Hawks with the win has won 3 in a row all have been at home. The Highlight factory is now being the house of beat downs when it comes to the visiting teams who play the Hawks. But real talk the defense has been outstanding for the Hawks can the home town Hawks keep it up.

Big shout out to Mike Woodson for putting his foot in Josh Smith ass. Smith who has a dispointing season this thus far. And most of it is due to lack of effort. Smith the other night against Charlotte was sat down the entire 2nd half and Mike Woodson was sending a message that he is not having it. The result Smith came out tonight against the hottest team in the Eastern Conference the Detroit Pistons the Hawks was ready to play and Smith was aggressive. ” I tip my hat to my lockeroom the last few days have been tough we was able to sweep a great team.” Smith lead all scores with 19 points and 12 rebounds. The Hawks are playing the next 7 games at home. A red flag for the Hawks was Marvin Williams going down with a back injury and did not return. But the talk of the night for the Hawks is Josh Smith it’s time to cut the bull and get to work and Mike Woodson is laying down the law. Smith I hope can keep playing with same aggersion he play with tonight. If not not only will Woodson maybe out but Josh Smith also these two better understand they need one another to be successful.

Joe Johnson of the Atlanta Hawks is one of the dead on shooters in the NBA. Johnson who this season was a NBA all star for the third season in row. Johnson who one of the bright stars in the NBA and is supposed to be the top man on the Atlanta Hawks roster, but Johnson is not the guy for this position. Johnson once again last night proved that he is not one of the elite players in the NBA. Johnson don’t get me wrong is great robin but he is no Batman. Last night the Hawks was hosting the Cavs and for the 1st half Joe Johnson seemed not even be on the floor. Josh Smith was the guy for the Hawks who kept them in the game with great dunks and solid defensive play. Joe Johnson was not aggressive and was passive. In the second half Johnson started to get aggressive but Lebron James took away the game from Johnson already with his aggressive play. I am not trying to compare Johnson to James. Johnson on a night to night basis is a great number 2 but to compare him to the top guys in the NBA who is a number1. Like Wade, Howard, James thats not what he is and there is nothing wrong with that. Joe Johnson is another Ray Allen who must have the right pieces around him to make the Hawks win a championship until that happends the Hawks will never win a championship or win big games like last night until they get the proper pieces around Joe Johnson. Johnson a great super hero just not the big super hero.

The Hawks tonight went to Auburn Hills the Palace in Detriot and picked up a great road win. The Hawks had a balance attack scoring wise. Joe Johnson the all star for the Hawks had 27 and add to that Flip Murry coming off the bench with 23 the Hawks were able to pick up there 30th win of the season. And now the Hawks has had there best record they’ve had since a decade. Mike Woodson head coach for the Hawks had this to say”That shows that we’ve got a lot of guys that are hungry last year after getting a taste of success in the first round against the world champs,” On the other side of the ball the Pistons are a team who is very fustrated. Allen Iverson who has been part of the blame on why the Pistons are doing well had this to say.”It’s not a good feeling,” Iverson said. “The whole thing is to stay positive, stay together, not to point fingers and play the blame game”. Allen Iverson since the trade for Chauncy Billups the Pistons are 23-24. The Detorit Pistons who trademark is defense is going up 111 points per game that is un heard of when it come to Detorit basketball. Rasheed Wallace missed the last 16 minutes of the game due to a knee problem but Tajuan Prince said it best “I’ve never been in this situation before,” This is Prince 6th season and now it looks to be when this veteran team is hitting adversity. The question will be ask with the trade line comming up will the Pistons make a move? Only time will tell.

The shortest man on the floor was the biggest man on the floor. Nate Robinson of the New York Knicks was the reason why the Knicks beat the Hawks last night. Robinson was the energy man coming off the bench for the New York Knicks. Robinson last night coming off the bench lead the Knicks with 24 points. ”He has an energy that not many people have,” coach Mike D’Antoni said. “An athleticism that is unbelievable. When it is channeled in the right direction, he is one of the better players. Then he has these other moments where he goes with a different plan. When he was in a mini-slump, that is why we struggled.” The Hawks point guard Mike Bibby struggle with his shot last night only scoring 5 points. Bibby shot 2-13 from the floor and without Al Horford in the game the Hawks came up short last night. The Hawks are only 1 game in front of the Pistons for the best record in the Eastern Conference. As for the Knicks they’re now sitting 2 games out of the last playoff spot in the East.

Kevin Garnett is public basketball enemy no. 1 at least in the Phillips Arena. Garnett and the Celtics came to Atlanta last night with a 15 game winning streak and when the game was over they now have a 16 game winning streak. The Hawks played the defending champions tough but at the end it was Kevin Garnett proves why he is one of the best players in the NBA and will go down as one of the best of all time. Garnett in the 4th quarter took over this game on the offensive side of the ball by scoring 10 points in the 4th quarter. At the end of the Garnett stats were 18 points and 8 rebounds. The Hawks almost was able to tie the game up with under 3 seconds but Joe Johnson missed a critcal free throw and that sealed the fate for the young Hawks. Don’t get too upset Hawks you went up against a team who will more than likely win 70 games and win the Championship and go down as one of the best teams in NBA history. And if it does happened it will be due the best team player in the NBA KEVIN GARNETT!!!
