The Atlanta Dream Could Not Stop This Strom

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008 |

The Atlanta Dream are now 3-27 as they approach the last four games of regular season.  They have lost eight straight and last night they lost big to the Seattle Storm.  The final score was Seattle 83 to Atlanta’s 69.  Sue Bird scored 21 points for the Storm and shs also had nine assist.  This win puts Seattle in a tie for first in the West along side SanAntonio.  Betty Lennox scored 25 points to lead the Dream and Iziane Castro Marques scored all of her 12 points in the first half.  The Dream are really going to have to start playing some real basketball before their season ends or end up with the worst record in WNBA history (the worst record is held now by the 2006 Chicago Sky 5-29).  I know its hard but still continue to support this team.

The Winless Dream Are Soon Becoming A Nightmare

Thursday, June 12th, 2008 |

On Wednesday night, the Atlanta Dream faced the New York Liberty.  The losing streak could have came to an end, but the Dream let a 12-point lead go in the final minutes of the game and lost 81-77.  Janel McCarville’s offense and late defensive pressure woke the Dream up and the Liberty walked away with the victory.  McCarvilloe scored 25 pts and had seven assists.  The Atlanta Dream remain winless and now have a record of 0-8.  They are the worst team in the WNAB with this record.  They are right behind Houston, who stand at 1-7.  Betty Lennox scored 28 pts to lead Atlanta.  She hit a 3-pointer with 3:26 remaining in the third that started an 18-6 run for the Dream.  Tamera Young and Ivory Latta each scored 13 pts for Atlanta.  The next game up for the Dream is Friday night at home against the Indiana Fever.

New Start For Feenstra

Thursday, May 15th, 2008 |

For the third time in  four WNBA seasons, Katie Feenstra will open the year on a new team.  Not just any team but the new Atlanta Dream.  The 6-8 center and the expansion Atlanta Dream are scheduled to tip off their inaugural season Saturday at 4pm, in Connecticut.  The Connecticut Sun are the team that drafted Feenstra with the eighth pick in the 2005 draft.  She soon was traded to the San Antonio Silver Stars on draft day.  She played two seasons with the Stars before going to the Detroit Shock for the 2007 year.  She helped lead the Shock to the Finals that year.  Feenstra was taken by Atlanta during the Feb. 6 expansion draft.  Coming to Atlanta she brings much leadership and experience.  She is not the only experienced player on this brand-new squad.  Players like guard Betty Lennox and Iziane Castro Marques, but this team will still rely on young players like second-year point guard Ivory Latta and first round pick Tamera Young.

The Atlanta Dream has its inaugural roster and 13 players have been added from the 2008 Expansion Draft.  When the 2008 WNBA Draft takes place this April, the Dream will hold the eighth, 24th and 32nd picks.  In the expansion draft the Dream has already traded the fourth overall pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft and guard Roneeka Hodges to Seattle in exchange for the eighth pick in the draft and veteran guard Iziane Castro Marques.
