The mission is complete. The U.S.A Men’s Basketball Team beat Spain for the Gold Medal. This game was not as easy as the previous game they had with Spain. In the first meeting the U.S. beat Spain by 37. But tonight it was a totally different story. The U.S. ran into trouble early when Lebron James and Kobe Bryant in the first quarter had two fouls a piece. The U.S. getting into foul trouble early in the game made Spain stay in the game. But Dwayne Wade and Chris Paul stepped up and gave the U.S. a nine point lead going into the half. The U.S. in the second half had issues with the Spain scoring in the paint Mark and his brother Pau Gasol control the boards. And also Rudy Fernandez who scored 22 points to lead Spain. The U.S. team in the second half turned to the NBA’S MVP Kobe Bryant who hit a clutch three pointer and was foul to make it a four point play. Kobe lead the U.S. team with 13 points in the second half and had a total of 20 points. Dwayne Wade lead all scores with 27. Spain gave it everything they got but too much scoring by the U.S. and the Redeem team won a Gold Medal. The Gold is the first one for the U.S. since the 2000 Olympics.

The U.S. Mens team is now one game away from winning gold. The U.S. team went on a 30-11 run in the 1st quarter and never looked back. Agentina made a run in the second quarter and cut the U.S. lead to 9 points. But U.S. came out and put the game away. The leading scorer for the U.S. Team was Carmelo Anthony with 21. The key to the U.S. win was the defending of the three point shot. Argentina was only 26% from the floor at three point range. On a side note I hope the San Antonio Spurs fans wasn’t watching this game. Manu Ginobli injuired his ankel and was out of the game. Ginobli has injuried this ankel before and has now done it again. The U.S. will now take on the Spain for the Gold Medal.

Kobe Bryant had to put NFL personality Chris Collinsworth in his place. Collinsworth who for some strange reason was trying to Dan Rather or Greg Gumbel trying to spark up some controversy by asking Kobe Bryant about playing for the USA. This is how the interview went.
Collinsworth: Tell the story when you first got your USA uniform.
Kobe: Well I had goosebumps and I actually just looked at it for awhile. I just held it there and I laid it across my bed and I just stared at it for a few minutes; just because as a kid growing up this is the ultimate, ultimate in basketball.
Collinsworth: Where does the patriotism come from inside of you? Historically, what is it?
Kobe: Well, you know it’s just our country, it’s… we believe is the greatest country in the world. It has given us so many great opportunities, and it’s just a sense of pride that you have; that you say “You know what? Our country is the best!”
Collinsworth: Is that a ‘cool’ thing to say, in this day and age? That you love your country, and that you’re fighting for the red, white and blue? It seems sort of like a day gone by(?)
Kobe: No, it’s a cool thing for me to say. I feel great about it, and I’m not ashamed to say it. I mean, this is a tremendous honor.
Collinsworth please stick to the NFL and if you want to make a poltical statement then go to Washington D.C. and protest other than that “SHUT UP”!!!

And for the U.S. Mens Basketball team the beat goes on. Dwight Howard lead the US team with 22 points. The Redeem team is now sending a statement to the whole world. That the best you can do is play for second place. The U.S. who have been struggling from three point land. Has now in the past two game is shooting over 40% and is now defending the three point shot better than ever by hold the opponents under 30%. The only thing it seems to be the biggest issue for the USA team is will they take the medal round for granted? If not the USA team looks to get the bling, bling the GOLD.
