NFL NEWS WEDNESDAY

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008 |

Sup everybody? This season is shaping up to be a barnstormer.  We have big names on the free agent market that don’t have a team,  players still acting stupid, Commish wants to cut rookie pay, and players reaction to the Commish ideas.  So lets see what’s really going on shall we?

1).  Foxboro Ma.: Willie Andrews was released by the Patriots. He was arrest on Monday for assualting his girlfriend by allegedly putting a gun to her head.  Andrews was a 2nd year defensive back used alot on special teams and third down max cover passing plays. This would have been his 3rd season with the Pats. I don’t get it…….. what is the deal?  You are on the best team in the NFL and have a chance to get something most of us will never have, and you’re on one of the most popular teams as well and you know that Roger Goodell is holding players and teams to a new standard.  I don’t think Andrews will be back in the NFL. It’s a shame the Pats felt he had a lot of talent too.

2). Well the Commish can’t say he is not trying.  Roger Goodell is looking for a way to cut the rookie salary.  He believes that the rookies coming into the NFL should not be getting paid more than the veterans and have not played yet.  My partner in crime H30 really has the right idea.  yea I said it H30 is right!!!!!!! the rookies should get a guaranteed contract or a base salary something like the NBA rookie salary.  Both the players and the owners would be happy about this.  It’s the union and Gene “I’m a Idiot” Upshaw that don’t like it.  Look at it this way……1) the rookies will be in camp early no more hold outs. 2) the Rooks will have to prove themselves at the NFL level, so if you get a Ryan Leaf type bust the team does’nt suffer that much of a hit having to let him go. 3) The Coaches and GM’s will have enough money to fill their rosters with the best available players. 4) The Vets can actually get paid for their job on the field not what the 1st round pick got at his postion. 5) The Owners will be saving money so they can build State of the Art stadiums for their fans. 6) the most important reason is the ticket prices can go down and fill up some of these venues and more fans will come to games if ticket prices are reasonable. GENE IT’S CALLED BALANCE!!!!!!!!!!! you have a the number 1 product in the USA if you want to remain number 1 you need balance.

3). Saline Mich. Let the Kevin Jones sweepstakes begin. Jones held a workout for the Dolphins,Packers,Steelers,Lions,Browns,Buccaneers Saturday to show he is healthy 5 months after Knee surgery. Jones did cuts, sprints and shuttle runs for all the team reps in the hope that someone will give him a chance to make a roster.  Travis Henry, Shaun Alexander, Ron Dayne and Cedric Benson are still on the market.

4).Atlanta Ga: Even though Joe Horn wants to be traded, there seems to be no interest in the WR. Horn made himself a household name with the Chiefs and Saints. He came to Atlanta to help make the Falcons relavent.  After the departure of Coach Bobby Petrino, Horn has been put to the 3rd WR spot.  Horns agents has been cleared to guage what teams are out there, sadly no offers have come across the table.

NCAA FOOTBALL 09 first look.

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008 |

ncaa09ps3boxart_160w.jpg  In just 12 days the gaming world will be flooding the stores for what some believe is the best football simulator on the market.  EA SPORTS will launch it’s 2nd “09″ title  NCAA FOOTBALL on july 12th.  There are different covers for the different systems.  Darren McFadden will grace the XBOX 360 cover, Matt Ryan will be on the PS3, and as of now the Michagan State Spartan Mascot will represent the Wii.  The first “09″ title for EA Sports was NASCAR 09, and don’t get me wrong NASCAR 09 is a outstanding game to play, But the Flagship for EA Sports has always been NCAA football.  If NCAA does well so does the mothership MADDEN.  If NCAA 09 is a blockbuster on the 12th, you will be hard pressed to get a copy of Madden 09 when it drops on Aug 7th.   This game will feature Home field Advantage, this is where you get to hype the home crowd up, so that the opposing QB gets rattled and will possibly make a error and get you the win.  Then there is Ice the Kicker, where you can call a timeout on a game winning field goal try and have the kick meter shorten. There are a few more features to help authentic game play like cutback lanes and team composure if you happen to be on the visiting side of a Home field advantage play.  The graphics have always been great from EA Sports just take a look

Rockin' The Swamp. yea this is the Gators!!!!! This game will feature 120 schools and also you will be able to do Campus Legend which will allow you to build a player up from the college ranks and export him to Madden 09.  The Bowl vs tournement feature is also brought back as well.  College football may not start till August, but with NCAA 09 you can get crackin a month early.  My grade on this edition just by looks…………..A+Getcha popcorn (and your MP3s) ready.

NFL Rumor web Wednesday

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008 |

Whats up gang?  Well the rumors are still going on and with everything going on in the NFL this will be the best season yet.  Let’s take a look at some of the news floating around.

Denver Co.: Well it seems the Broncos can now understand what happen to Jay Cutler last season.  On April 13th  Cutler was diagnosed with type 1 diabietes.  This would explain the poor play and mass weight loss and fatigue Cutler was suffering during the season.  Last season Cutler started the season at 230lbs by the end of preaseason he was down to 210 and dropping 2lbs a week.  Teammates noticed that Cutler could not keep his weight up and he would tire very easily from his usual workouts.  Now that the problem has been identified, Cutler has started his medications and is looking very good in camp.

New York NY.: The Giants have decided to go with Andre Woodson instead of Jared Lorenzen.  The Giants also signed former number 1 pick David Carr to back up Eli Manning.  Which still leaves journeyman Anthony Wright.  I don’t think that the SuperBowl Champs are going to go into the season with 4 QBs.  So let the battle for the back-ups begin.

Charoltte N.C.:  Ok question whats with the drinking and driving?  Have we not learned anything with Chris Henry and Cedric Benson? 1st year WR Dwayne Jarrett has to give up his licence and pay $420 and do community service after he appeared in court for DUI.  When Jarrett was stopped his blood-alchol level was .12 over the .08 limit.  Sugesstion to all you high paid athletes that like to drink….. GET A LIMO!!!!!!!!! The Panthers have not issued a punishment for Jarrett’s infraction.

Oakland CA.: Arrest have been made in the case of Raider WR Jevon Walker.  It seems that Walker had too much to drink and was getting a ride home, when Arfat Fadel kidnapped, beat and robbed the superstar. Taking $3000 in cash and $100,000 worth of jewelery.  Walker was hospitalized with a concussion and facial injuries.  The Police are unsure why Walker got in Fadel’s car in the first place.  It was clear the Fadel knew who Walker was and was stalking Walker at a Las Vegas party that Walker was atteneding.

Dallas TX.: Adam Jones responed to the remarks made by shock-jock Don Imus.  Adam stated ” I think he has a problems with African-americans and his comments were tasteless and I will pray for him”.  Looks like Deion Sanders has really made a impact on Adam’s life.  It’s been a good deal so far for the Cowboys, there have been no incidents with Adam since signing with the ‘Boys.

Let’s take a look at who goes and who stays

WWE Champion Triple H def. Mark Henry. Rey Mysterio was drafted to Raw from SmackDown.

Finlay & Hornswoggle def. Santino Marella & Carlito. Jeff Hardy was drafted from Raw to SmackDown.

World Tag Team Champions Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes def. Chavo Guerrero & Bam Neely. CM Punk was drafted from ECW to Raw.

WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz def. United States Champion Matt Hardy & Jeff Hardy. Matt Hardy was drafted from SmackDown to ECW.

WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James & Melina and the team of Victoria & Natalya were in a tag team match that ended as a double disqualification. Jim Ross was drafted to SmackDown and Michael Cole was drafted to Raw.

John Cena def. World Heavyweight Champion Edge. Batista was drafted to Raw from SmackDown.

MVP defeated Tommy Dreamer with Colin Delaney. Umaga was drafted to SmackDown from Raw.

JBL defeated Kofi Kingston. ECW Champion Kane was drafted to Raw from ECW

Edge won a Tri-Branded 15-Man Battle Royal. WWE Champion Triple H and Mr. Kennedy were drafted to SmackDown from Raw.

So this Sunday at Night of Champions we will see a shake-up in titles and new personel.  Then to top it all off someone won  $500,000 then the set fell apart and injured Vince McMahon to end the show.  Boy that Vince can really put on a show.  That’s why the WWE continues to own Monday nights.

Don does it again!!!!!!!!

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008 |

images.jpg So what the problem Mr.Imus?  Are you jealous of the African-American athlete? For those who don’t know Don Imus made another “racist” comment on his radio show.  The topic this time was Adam “Pac-Man” Jones.  Don’s co-host made the comment that Pac-man was signed by the Cowboys even though he was involved in a shooting at a club in LasVegas and was arrested 6 times in total and was still playing in the NFL.  Don’s response started out ok, he stated that ” well thats what happens at a nightclub when you mix money, women, drugs, & guns”.  Then he asked the question “what color is Pac-Man?” when the co-host said that Pac-Man was african-american, Don replied “oh well that explains it”.  Now here is where the “fit hits the shan”.  When Imus was called out because of the comment he replied that his response was taken out of context and that what he meant was……. NBA DRAFT

Monday, June 23rd, 2008 |

19129.jpgnba_rose_beasley_203.jpgSup people!!!!!!!!! I’m back from a very exciting trip in Baltimore.  I must say that the people in Baltimore are some of the most loyal fans.  I mean look at the Orioles and the Ravens, both teams are not very good, but they still pack the stadiums and the people are full of some very interesting ideas on how to make their beloved teams better.  So welcome to the Sideline show Baltimore fans and thank-you for your hospitality.  Ok while I was away I’ve been listening to all the talk about the NBA Draft coming up this thursday.   I was very disturbed by comments made by Derrick Rose.  I have no problem with a young player wanting to go to his home team, but to say if the team does’nt pick him first he would be crushed is a little over the top for me.  I mean you are about to go to the NBA it should not matter where you go as long as you go.  Anyway the Bulls would be crazy not to pick this guy.  Rose is a aggressive point guard and could give the Bulls a floor general that they need.  So what happens to Kirk Hinrich? there lies the problem.  You have 2 first round point guards someone will have to take a back seat.  More than likely it will be Hinrich.  Maybe a trade for a solid player or another pick. The Bulls really underachieved based on the talent they have.  Then you have Micheal Beasley a double-double forward that the Heat could definately use if they want to keep D-Wade in Miami.  The Heat will also need a Point Guard or Center to get this team back in the hunt.  J-Will or White Chocolate is a servicable Point, but his inconsistent play hurts the Heat and you can’t expect D-Wade to handle all the backcourt duties. As for the Center spot Mark Blount is 32 and is definately no SHAQ. Beasley will need someone to take some of the pressure so he can get those double-doubles on a consistent basis. Next up will be the the Timberwolves, after letting K.G. go this team is rebuilding and they need a impact player so look for them to grab O.J.Mayo a shooting guard that will arguably be the best player on the team.  Mayo needs to work on his off court problems so he won’t have any distractions on the court.  Mayo’s shooting stroke has a lot of people a little taken back , but that can be worked on with the coaching staff.  So there you have it the top 3 picks in the NBA draft that I see, what do you think?
