Tough Lost At Home For The Sparks

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008 |

ny.JPG

With the beginning of the fourth quarter the Los Angeles Sparks lead with 62-51, but the New York Liberty would not go out that easy.  With 1:41 remaining the Liberty used a 22-8 spree to move ahead 83-74.  By the end of the game the Liberty walked a way with a 89-78 victory.  Shameka Christon scored a career-high 28 pts and Janel McCarville added 15 pts and also tied a season best with eight rebounds for the Liberty.  “Getting Lisa ( Leslie)  out of the game was huge for us,” said McCarville.   Lisa Leslie had 12 pts before fouling out with 6:55 to play.  Candace Parker had 18 pts, 10 boards, four blocks, three assist and three steals.  The Sparks now stand 10-5 in the West and the Liberty are 8-7 out in the East.  The Sparks missed 10 of 15 shots and grabbed just three rebounds to the Liberty’s nine in the fourth.

Same State……..Different City

The Golden State Warriors guard Baron Davis has opted out of his $17.8 million contract owned to him and the Los Angeles Clippers could be calling.  In his final season of his six-year contract, Davis made his decision late yesterday.  He could still sign with the Warriors but the love that he has in L.A. could be more appealing.  He grow up in Southern California and he played for UCLA.  Before Davis opted out it was reported that the Clippers were looking at Sacramento Kings point guard Beno Udrih.

Beloved UGA Mascot Dies

Monday, June 30th, 2008 |

uga.JPG

The University of Georgia’s famous mascot, Uga VI, has died of congestive heart failure.  The beloved Bulldog was 9-year-old and he has been the mascot since 1999.  You could see him on the sidelines of every game with the letter “G” on the front of his jersey.  The picture above shows Uga on the field during the game between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Oklahoma State Cowboys on September 1, 2007 at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia.  For those who are UGA fans this is a very sad day.

The Bulls Pick the Winning Rose

Friday, June 27th, 2008 |

draft.JPG

With the No. 1 pick in the 2008 NBA Draft the Chicago Bulls select Derrick Rose from the University of Memphis.  Rose will be playing for his hometown city as the newest face of the Bulls. Rose led the Tigers to the NCAA title game.  He is NBA ready and I real he will do very well playing in front of his home crowd.  The second pick in the draft was Michael Beasly going to the Miami Heat.  Beasly averaged 26.2 points, thrid in the nation and topped Div I with 12.4 rebounds per game.  With this pick Beasly may bring some Heat back to Miami.

Bobcats Take Denver’s 20th Pick

Thursday, June 26th, 2008 |

den.GIFcats.GIF

Tonight as the draft takes place the Dever Nuggets can rest easy tonight because they don’t have to worry about picking anyone for the entire draft.  The Nuggets traded their 20th pick to the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday in exchange for a future first-round pick.  Denver had already traded their second round pick to Seattle.  Denver will get Charlotte’s first-round pick next year if the Bobcats make the playoffs.  If not Charlotte will keep it.  Lets hope that they choose wisely this year.  With new head coach Larry Brown and part owner Michael Jordan they may have a slight chance.  Because we all know what happen with their 2006 draft pick from Gonzaga.    Adam Morrison did not live up to the hype.  The Bobcats have had their eye on 7-foot-2 center Roy Hibbert of Georgetown with the 20th pick.   He is expected to go late in the first round.  The Nuggets look at not having a fisrt-round pick has  saving their salary cap from having to pay the luxury tax on a rookie contract.  A future first-round pick gives the Nuggets more options in the future trade talks.  Lets see what will really happen then with Melo.  AM MORRISON

She-quille Cries Once Again

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008 |

shaq.JPG

My point has been proven once again that She-quille O’neal is THE biggest cry baby, ever.  Everyone ( including me) thought the whole Shaq-Kobe feud was over and that the big man and Mr. MVP were friends.  She-quille has even said they are friends, not once but on many occasions and after the Finals we get this from him.  Come on now Shaq you were wrong, dead wrong for the words you said.   Please believe it Shaq Kobe got those rings for you, the same way D-wade, Zo, Gary Payton, and Antoine Walker did for you in Miami.  No, BC but Shaq did help out……..his freethrow shoting and lack out energy lead his teams.  Give me a break!!!   That is why you got the name SHE-quille because you are always crying like one. A little girl…. Shout outs to Lakerone5 for giving you that name.  I  have a real problem with you trying to diss Kobe but for you to try and diss Kareem and Ewing, that is just another issue in itself.
