Former Mayor of New York City Rudy Giulani’s son is sueing the Duke Golf team for clamis that he was cut without any reason. Andrew Giuliani claims he was dismissed from the golf team earlier this year because coach O.D. Vincent III wanted to cut the team of 13 players by about half. The 198-page lawsuit was filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court. Duke University didn’t want to comment.
Despite being told not to play by doctors at the US Open Tiger Woods went ahead and played and won. That will be the last time we see him swing a club this year. Atleast he won one major and not even being 100 percent. Tiger is going to have season ending knee surgery on a torn ligament in his left knee that he injured 10 months ago. Tiger tore his ACL while jogging at the British Open last year. Woods also suffered two stress fractures in his left tibia two weeks before the US Open and ingnored doctors orders not to play.
Tiger had arithscopic surgery on April 15th to clean out cartilage in his left knee, in hopes of being enough so he could play the rest of the year. It is uncertain when Woods will have surgery but it will take 6 to 8 months rehab before he his ready to return. Tiger will miss his first Major of his career when the British Open is played. Tiger did join Jack Nicklaus as the only players to win the grand slam events three time over. Those would be the US Open, the Masters, the British Open and the PGA Championship.
Bad news for the golf world. The world’s best player will be out for the rest of the season. Due to his chronic left knee . Woods is going to need another surgey for the left knee. I know much was made of my knee throughout the last week, and it was important to me that I disclose my condition publicly at an appropriate time. I wanted to be very respectful of the USGA and their incredibly hard work, and make sure the focus was on the U.S. Open, “Now, it is clear that the right thing to do is to listen to my doctors, follow through with this surgery, and focus my attention on rehabilitating my knee.”
A date for the knee surgery, as well as the necessary rehabilitation schedule, has not yet been determined.
“While I am obviously disappointed to have to miss the remainder of the season, I have to do the right thing for my long-term health and look forward to returning to competitive golf when my doctors agree that my knee is sufficiently healthy,” said Woods. “My doctors assure me with the proper rehabilitation and training, the knee will be strong and there will be no long-term effects.” Tiger Woods.
Torrey Pines has lived up to expectations with only 11 players playing under par golf. The two golfers at the top shooting 3 under par are Justin Hicks and Kevin Streelman will start feeling the heat today, as it maybe easy to be on top but to stay there is the hardest thing. The big roar of Phil and Tiger are lurking around the corner with Mickelson shooting par and Tiger is at 1 over for his round. We will have to see if someone like Stuart Appleby, Lee Westwood or even Ernie Els can put together another solid round and take command of this tourney. Just keep a lookout for Tiger and Phil just hanging around until its time to step up like late Saturday or Sunday.
Yes despite everything that has happened to this man he is still winning tournaments. With his stirring four shot come from behind victory at the Dubai Classic, that included a 25 foot down slope putt that capped the comeback on the 18th hole, Woods has won his first two tournaments of the year for the third time in his career. With this victory Woods has won his last four official tournaments and six of his last seven. This does not bode well for the rest of the PGA. More so than ever Woods seems to be more at ease with every victory. When asked about the gap between himself and the worlds number 2 Phil Mickleson Woods playfully said ” I thought Ian Coulter was No.2?” Seems that nothing can stop this man right now, not a Golf Channel host or a magazine, Woods’ is on a roll.
