The college football season kicks off tonight and the world will be alot happier place. I am a Husker fan looking to forget those past four years. Thursday night has some games worth watching, pretty much all of them are worth watching at this point in the season.Well here are a couple of them I will be following.
#23Wake Forest vs Baylor. Wake Forest is the only ranked team to playing on Thursday night. This is the first time in Wake Forest history they enter a season ranked. Wake travels to Waco to take on a Baylor team that has a new head coach in Art Briles formely the head coach at Houston. Briles still hasn’t named a QB to start tonight so we will see what happen.
N.C. State vs South Carolina. Steve Spurrier begins his season tonight on ESPN with the Wolfpack coming to town. South Carolina enters the season on a five game losing streak from last year. That is the longest in Spurriers career. The GameCocks are happy to have their star Jasper Brinkley back on defense to help after they struggled when he went down with an injury last season. NC State enters Tom O’Briens’ second year at the helm with questions at quarterback. Redshirt freshmen Russell Wilson will make his debut as the QB. The Wolfpack hope they can get some consitency on offense to help them make a bowl game this year.
Georgia Tech vs Jacksonville State. The third game I am interested in tonight is not televised but here in Atlanta is something the Tech fans have been waiting for since hiring Paul Johnson and his triple option offense. They won’t have any problem with Jacksonville State. Jacksonville State does have a denfending national champion QB Ryan Perrilloux running the show. I hope you enjoy getting slapped around. Just think you could be competing with Harvard boy in LSU.

We all know that the Big 12 has five great gunslingers leading their teams. But their are also four or five other QBs’ who derserve some respect. The first one is Zach Robinson of Oklahoma St. Robinson was the backup at the start of the season before he dethroned Bobby Reid who transferred at the end of the year. Zach put up some impressive numbers once he became the starter by passing for 2824 yards and rushing for 847 yards. The only other QB in the country to put up atleast 28oo yards passing and 800 yards rushing were Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow. Zach is a very athletic QB who will look to get the Cowboys in the the Big 12 South mix. (more…)

You cannot blame him for not trying to play this year. The 24 year old has been already has seen three doctors and all have said you need season ending knee surgery to save your career.
“I can’t imagine not playing football this year,”I really can’t. That’s what this is all about. I want to see that I can play … I haven’t made my decision yet, but I am going to do everything I can to play. That’s what this is all about.”
Shawn Merriman has had more sacks than any defensive player since 2005. Merriman has 39.5 sacks he just needs four more to tie all time sack leader for the Chargers Leroy Jones. Leroy Jones is 7th all time in NFL history.

When Michael Strahan announced his retirement from football. One of the reasons why Giants fans didn’t go to crazy was due to Umenyiora taking the place of the hall of fame defensive player. Umenyiora last season lead the Giants in sacks with 13 and Umenyiora was part of the defensive line that put Tom Brady on his butt throughout the whole Super Bowl 42. But last night in a pre-season game Umenyiora blew out his knee and was carted off the field and the reports just came out the Umenyiora will now be out for the season. Justin Tuck of the Giants had this to say
“I talked to him when he was in the locker room, in the training room, “Obviously, he was down. It’s unfortunate when any injury occurs, but hopefully, it is nothing serious and he will not miss any time.”
As a Giant fan bring back Michael Strahan we need you. But the truth is Strahan is not Brett Farve and he is enjoying retirement, so as a Giant fan don’t look for Strahan on opening day September 7th at home to run on the field and help the Giants beat the RedSkins. Look for the Giants to ask Mathias Kiwanuka to take the spot for Umenyiora.
