Joe Calzaghe will take on Roy Jones Jr. on Nov.8th in Madision Square Garden. And also this will be his last fight. The 36 year old in a surprising statement had this to say.
“It’s a massive fight and it will be my last,” said Calzaghe, 36. “I’ve known for a while when I want to go out and as long as I put on a great performance this is my time.
“If I can do that then I’ve achieved everything I’ve wanted to achieve in my career. I would never forgive myself if I came to my last fight and threw it all away. Complacency is not in my mindset.
“But I know in my heart this is the right time to stop and my aim is to remain undefeated.”
The LightHeavyWeight Champion was suppose to fight Jones Jr. and then take on MiddleWeight Champion Kelly Palvick. But Calzaghe is walking away. Calzaghe to many experts is pound for pound the best fighter in the game. This will be something if both Calzaghe and Mayweather who were both at one time considred the best fighters pound for pound now both walk away.
Freddie Roach has told Bernard Hopkins ” I WON’T TRAIN YOU”. Freddie Roach told this to Bernard Hopkins, Hopkins has a date to fight Kelly Palvick on October 18th. Freddie Roach has went as far as telling Hopkins “DON’T FIGHT NO MORE”. In other words you don’t have it no more. Hopkins lost a unanimous decision to Calzaghe, and by many it seemed to be the last time Hopkins will step in the ring. ” I’m a little worried about this fight.” Roach said. “Bernard is my friend. I asked him to retire after the last fight. I saw things that I didn’t like. ” Four times in the fight with Calzaghe he walked to the wrong corner after the round four times.” Calzaghe couldn’t hurt Bernard but Palvick is a big puncher and is hungry. Hopkins not only wants to fight Palvick but he also wants Roy Jones Jr. One has to wonder why fight Hopkins? It looks like Hopkins is going to be one of these great fighters who has to get beat up real bad before he goes away for good!!!

Calzaghe at 36 is late coming over here to the states and fighting but it will like nice on his record if he can beat Hopkins and Jones in the same year. To add to this, Holyfield reportedly owes about half of a million dollars to a landscaping comapany. Holyfield also has baby mama drama. Reportedly the former champ is being taken to court for six thousand dollars in child support. But I have an idea, Holyfield Vs. Tyson on the next WWE card.
