CAN THE RED SOX HANDLE THE PRESSURE??

Written on October 13, 2008 – 9:43 am | by Harry Robinson |

The Boston Red Sox have been the class of the sports world.  They’ve won two of the past three seasons a world championship and after they won game 1 in Tampa it seemed as the Red Sox will cruise there way to another World Series apperance.  But stop the press, there are cracks in the Red Sox this season.  Josh Beckett arguably the best starting pitcher in baseball in the past 15 seasons didn’t look sharp.  Beckett in his last apperance gave up 9 hits and 8 runs and by the end of the game had an ERA of 16.62. Combine that with David Oritz struggling at the plate in this series batting under.100.  The Red Sox might be in a little trouble taking on the confident Tampa Bay Rays.  Now this afternoon in game 3 the Red Sox will have there new ace of the staff Jon Lester  and for the Rays it will be Matt Garza.  Now don’t get me wrong the Red Sox are still the clear favorite.  But it will be something to keep and eye on when the Red Sox faithful will be expecting just to roll through the Rays.  I dare say will the Red Sox be tight?  We will see this afternoon look for the Rays to play very loose and try to do the unthinkable and that is beat the Boston Red Sox at home.
