It took 28 years and almost a 50 hour game 5 to finally have the Philadelphia Phillies win a Championship. But now the Phillies have won there 2nd Championship as a franchise. And the Phillies who did it in a non traditional National League way did it with the homerun ball. The Phillies have a pitching staff of Cole Hamles, Brett Myers, Jamie Moyer and Joe Blanton. On paper there was no way they should’ve been able to win a World Series. But the Phllies did it, and that was also due to key people in there line up stepping up. Shane Victorino,Pedro Feliz and add to that the regulars like Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Pat Burrell. The MVP for the 2008 World Series was Cole Hamles.
The Rays after coming from worse to first be and incredible story, Lead by manager Joe Maddon of the Rays. The Rays with the starting pitching of Kazmir, Sonanstine, Shields and a bullpen of Dan Wheeler and David Price, the Rays will be back in a big way next season. The Rays are young and as of right now has to be the favorite to return back to the World Series.

Greg Oden first game kicked off last night against the Western Conference Champions L.A. Lakers. Oden who missed last season with a knee injury was ready to take the NBA world by storm. But in the 1st quarter the big man fell and wobbled his way up and had to be taken out of the game to never return. It has been reported that Oden has a mild sprain foot and there is no time table when he will be back. Oh can’t you hear the cry’s from the Trailblazers who drafted Sam Bowie instead of Michael Jordon. So the pain continues for this Northwest franchise. Who by the way lost to the Lakers by 20, but if you are a Blazers fan is excited about your rookie from Spain Rudy Fernandez. Fernandez drop 16 points in his NBA debut in 29 minutes.
The Lakers who are trying to lick there wounds after being embarrassed game 6 in the NBA Finals against the Celtics, look to pick up right were they off at winning the Western Championship. Kobe Bryant led the way with 23 points 9-17 from the floor. Andrew Bynaum was solid also for the Lakers 8 points with 3 rebounds. Bymaum is coming back off of knee surgery. Gasol for the Lakers had 15 points and the Lakers look like the old show time.

For the 17th time in there franchise the Boston Celtics celebrated a championship in the Finals. The Celtics opened up the new 2008/09 season against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavaliers lost to the Celtics last season in the postseason in a 7 game thriller. The Cavaliers did and up grade on there team by getting Mo Williams. This move was to help Lebron James on the scoring end. But unfortunately it was the same result for the Cavaliers taking on the Boston Celtics. The Celtics came away with the victory last night lead by Paul Pierce. Pierce scored 27 points and had this to say about last night game and getting his first ring of his career. “It’s moments like these that you cherish. Whenever you can raise that banner and grab that ring, and be there in front of the people closest to you, it’s very emotional,” Pierce said. “I’m just glad I pulled together in time so we could come out and play the game.”
As for Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers they played well but did not protect the ball very well. The Cavaliers had 21 turnovers and James missed some key free throws in the 4th quarter. For James and the Cavaliers not only do they have to stop turning the ball over but there best player Lebron James must be better at the free throw line if not they will continue watching other teams get there ring while they watch.

1.Boston Celtics-the champs will be bringing back the trio Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. Red Flag how are they going to replace James Posey?
-
Philadelphia 76ers-Elton Brand is now added to Andre Ingodola and Andre Miller. Red Flag can the Sixers live up to the high expectations?
- Detroit Pistons- the pain in the butt team will be back again. They are probably still the deepest team in the NBA. Chauncey Billups, Richard Hamilton, Tajun Prince and Rasheed Wallace. Red Flag are they too old and will they listen to first year head coach Michael Curry?
- Orlando Magic- they’ve may got this years MVP on there team. Dwight Howard will put his mark on the NBA like never before. Add to Howard is Forward Rashard Lewis; The Magic can represent the East this year. Red Flag can these two carry the Magic to win the East? And can they get constant PG play from Jameer Nelson?
- Atlanta Hawks- the backcourt of Mike Bibby and Joe Johnson maybe the best in the Eastern Conference. Also on the inside with Al Horford and Josh Smith this might be the big break out season for Marvin Williams. Red Flag can the Hawks handle being the hunted this season and do they have enough depth?
- Cleveland Cavaliers- Defense is the name of the game when it comes to the Cavaliers. Ben Wallace, Illgaouzickis also how can I forget arguably the best player in the game is on there team with Lebron James. Red Flag Lebron James cannot do it by himself he must get some scoring from a roster that will be hard to find solid scoring so who will that be?
- Miami Heat- the new three amigo’s, Dwayne Wade, Shawn Marion and maybe rookie of the year Michael Beasley look for the Heat to have a turn around season. Red Flag can Dwayne Wade stay healthy?
- Milwaukee Bucks- the new coach Scott Skiles this team will play you for 48 minutes strong. They have there three man combo as well with Michael Redd, Richard Jefferson and Andrew Bogut. Red Flag do they have enough to make the playoffs?

The Lakers look to be the leaders in the West. Red Flag is this team tough enough inside and how good is Andrew Bynaum?
- New Orleans Hornets- the sexy pick. Lead by the best point guard in the NBA Chris Paul and add to that David West and Tyson Chandler this is the team who surprised everyone last season. And now add James Posey who came in from the Champions Boston Celtics. Red Flag the Hornets will not surprise anyone this season can they handle being the hunted?
- San Antonio Spurs- hate it or love it. This team is the most successful NBA team this past decade. They’ve won 4 titles and the core of this team is still together. Duncan, Parker and Ginobli. The Spurs will always be a tough match for anyone. Red Flag has this team seen its best days? (more…)

The Tennesee Titans came in Monday as the only undefeated team in the NFL. And a lot of experts didn’t want to really show this team love due to they didn’t play anyone in there schedule that was too tough. But now taking on the Colts on Monday night the Titans have a chance to show the whole football world they’ve arrive. The Colts jumped out to a 14-6 lead and was playing solid on the run defense. And at times in the game the Titans looked like not to have and answer. But they put the ball in the quarterback hand Kerry Collins. Collins was solid with the football for the Titans. Collins went 24/37 for 139 yards and no INTERCEPTIONS. ”We’re trying to get where they’ve been,” Collins said. “It was a big step for us tonight I think. We obviously got off to a good start, and to get one more against a division opponent is again real big at this time of year.” Collins was solid enough to get the running game going for Landell White who scored two touchdowns and add Chris Johnson who also scored a touchdown and the Titans were on there way to a win. As for the Colts they had a good beginning but there passing game wasn’t as solid. The Colts and Peyton Manning had two interceptions and also on 4th downs they were 0-2.”It’s going to make it doubtful for us to win the division, but … we’ll see what the last nine games bring,” Dungy said. “If we play well and get ourselves on a streak and get going, we can be a playoff team. I think once you get in the playoffs, anything can happen as we’ve seen two of the last three years.” The Colts are now 3-4 and 4 games out of first place but things maybe looking up for the Colts. Reportedly Joesph Adai and Bob Sanders will be coming back for the Patriots game this Sunday. As for the Titans they will be at home taking on the Packers.
