After years of waiting and fans calling for his dismissal, Matt Millen was fired as GM of the Detriot Lions. Millen was a great player in the 80’s with the 49ers and a decent sportscaster with ESPN & NBC. The thought that he could be a good GM was always in question. Micheal Jordan is the best basketball player in the world, that does not make him a good GM. The Lions have had the worst record since Millen has taken over. His only good call was the drafting of Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson. So what does this means for the Lions? Well………… a GOOD GM will probably go with a rebuild option. The Lions have some talent, but need help in lots of places.

In other news Plaxico Burress was suspended by the Giant for 2 weeks for missing a team meeting. Burress met with the Giants brass and claimed he had a family emergency that needed to be dealt with. Obviously the Giants were not impressed with the “family emergency” excuse. This means that Burress will not get paid for 2 weeks and miss the next game following this weeks bye. Now you know if the G-Men were playing Dallas or the Eagles or the Skins Burress would not be missing that game. Giants you guys are not fooling no-one.

In Cleveland the Brady Quinn experiment will have to wait another week. Although fans are calling for it now. The Browns are 0-3 and will face the also 0-3 Bengal this week before the get their bye week. If the Browns lose the game then look for Brady “Mighty” Quinn to start against the Giants after the bye. Personally I think the Browns have deeper problems that just the QB. Injuries and lack of intensity by the defense seem to be more of a problem.

OK AL!!!!! what you gonna do? Al Davis still has not fired coach Lane Kiffin. Even thought the reports are that Kiffin was supposed to be gone last week. The Raiders are 1-2 and have been playing a little better since the announcement that Kiffin was on his way out. Beating K.C. and coming close to beating the Bills last week, maybe Davis is having a change of heart……………NOT!!!!!!! the problem is NOONE WANTS THIS JOB!!!!!! and understandably so, the team has no real identity except for Darren McFadden. There are so many problems that needs to be fixed and Davis is not a patient man. Kiffin may have the upper hand here. With noone wanting the job and Kiffin proclaiming he is not quitting. The Raiders may have to stick it out with Kiffin till next season…………oh-boy this is going to be a long season for the Raiders. HEY AL !!!!! Matt Millen needs a job!!!!!!!!!!
