Patriots beat the Jets at the Meadowlands
Once the world found out the Tom “Almighty” Brady was out for the season with a knee injury and Matt “Who” Cassel as New England’s newest QB, alot of people had there doubts about how Week 2’s game would be played. Cassel, a player who has not started since high school faced a NFL vetern in Brett Favre and the newly favorite New York Jets. With the odds not on Cassel side he took ownership of his team and lead them to victory 19-10. Cassel looked like he had been here before running the offense and hitting players like Sammy Morris who then ran for a touchdown. Cassel was 16-of-23 for 165 yards, not bad for his first NFL start. Favre made big mistakes in this game and the Patriots took advantage of every opportunity. Favre went 18-of-26 for 181 yards. This game Favre throw his first interception with the Jets, a pass intended for Chris Baker was picked up by Brandon Meriweather. This is the eighth straight time the Jets have lost to the Patriots in the Meadowlands. Patriots Laurence Maroney left early in the second quarter with a shoulder injury and Randy Moss was doubled coveraged the whole game and only had two cathes for 22 yards. Next up for the Patriots, the winless Miami Dolphins.
