Championship Welcome-Giants 16 Redskins7!!
The New York Giants started the season last night with a hero’s welcome. As the Giants for the third time in the teams history hosted up there championship banner. Michael Strahan who announced his retirement, came back to Giants Stadium and thanked the fans. Strahan lift up the Lombardi trophy and the Giants fans went crazy. And Strahan then introduced Supebowl Champions New York Giants. The Giants picked up were they left off. A typical Giants win hard nose defense and a good solid running game lead by Brandon Jacobs who 21 carries and 116 yards. Jacobs averaged 5.5 per carry. As for Eli Manning 19-35 216 yards and rushed for a touchdown. Adding to the production P.Burress who was a flat out stud 10 catches for 133 yards. Eli Manning had this to say “There was a lot of emotion, a lot of excitement. You could feel it in the crowd. It was great to see Michael holding the trophy.
“It was a great crowd. They were fired up. It was good to play well at home and to win a game at home. It’s been a while.”
Jim Zorn and Jason Campbell need to go back to the drawing board. And awful performance head coaching debut by Jim Zorn. Campbell and the RedSkins only had 11 first downs and 209 yards total. Zorn seemed to not know what was going on the field. The RedSkins just look like they were running the same play. Give to Clinton Portis and let’s see if he can break one. Portis 23 carries for 83 tough yards.”A team held us to three and out for over half the game,” Clinton Portis Campbell went 15/27 133 yards and 1 touchdown. Jim Zorn head coach of the RedSkins had this to say”The thing that hurt us was not converting those first downs when we had the opportunity,” Zorn said. “We had third-and-6 and we’d made 5. We’d have third-and-9 and make 8 1/2. We’d have third-and-7 and make 6. We just couldn’t get over that line.” Maybe coach some more shotguns screens try to throw the ball deep. And try to get your pro bowl tight end Chris Cooley involved. RedSkins I know its game 1. But it looks like a long season.
