Camp Talk NFC NORTH
One of the toughest divisions is the NFC North. Every team except the Lions can boast a superbowl apperance. Look at some of the players that played in the North division. W.Payton (Sweetness), B.Sanders, B.Farve, Sterling Sharpe, Randy Moss. Who can forget the 85 Bears and the Superbowl Shuffle? Or the Purple People Eaters of the 70’s? Lest we forget the first 2 Superbowls were won by the Packers. Kinda sad to think that Tampa-Bay made it to the Superbowl before one of the oldest teams the Lions. It’s wierd how these teams BEARS,VIKINGS, PACKERS,LIONS will play each other like the season depended on it, but when they face other teams outside the division they kinda play average. This season there are really 2 teams that matter.
At first glance at this roster you only see ONE gleaming problem, Thing is it’s the most imporant spot on the team….QB. The Bears are 2 years removed from their superbowl appearence. The Defense carried them then, but you need a QB that will not lose the game for you. Unfortunately the Bears don’t have one of those or a real Running Back that can help carry the load. The other A.Peterson looks to be the starter at RB after C.Benson was a bust and could not kick the Bottle. Now the offense will have to hope that K.Orton can do what “Sexy-Rexy” couldn’t do. Defense will have to carry the team again, I just don’t think you can continue to hope D.Hester will get the chance to return punts and kickoffs for your points and win. Prediction: 5-11 playoffs: no
This team has been is a slump since losing B.Sanders to retirement. Matt Millen as a GM does’nt help either. The one thing the Lions have going for them is that they play above their actual talent. Last year J.Kitna predicted a 10 game season, and looked like they might pull it off until they ran out of gas. This years draft was not very kind to them. C.Campbell from Army would have been a solid player at LB. The Army felt the need to call him back for whatever reason. The revamped O-line should help and K.Smith at RB will be key. At WR C.Johnson & R.Williams are one of the best tantems in the league. Health will be a issue though. I don’t think they have enough to make a solid run. prediction: 8-8 playoffs: no
Farve is out…….no wait he is in…….hold on the Pack may trade him. WTF?????? you are one game shy of the Superbowl and you want to trade the QB that got you there? Look I’m not a Packer fan, but this merry-go-round is not good for this team. Aaron Rodgers is your guy or not……….bottom line. If he is then let Brett go somewhere else and play, who cares where it is. If Brett is as good as you think then give him his job back! What is the competition for? This team is good enough to make a run, but the Farve distraction will make or break your chances. This is a odd prediction so here it goes. If Farve stays: 11-5 and a playoff run. If Farve does not stay then 9-7 and no playoff run. Sorry Cheeseheads just don’t like the pressure that will be put on Rodgers if Farve does not stay.
This team is sitting pretty at the moment. If Farve leaves the Pack they will more than likely get him. This team is the wildcard of the NFC. If they play as well as they did last year they could stop a lot of teams from getting to the playoffs. The Division is thiers to lose with all the issues with the Packers. A.Peterson will need to have another solid season. Not sure if I’m sold on the WR’s B.Wade & B.Berrian. The O-line is one of the leagues best and defensively the Vikes are solid at all postitions. Grabbing J.Allen really gave the D-line a boost. Question now is will it be Farve, Jackson or maybe………J.D.Booty? prediction:10-6 Playoffs :yes
