Derek Lee’s bat came alive at the right time as he hit an RBI double in the ninth to break a tie with one out. Lee went 3 for 5 with three RBIs. Alfonso Soriano chipped in with a solo home run off of CC Sabathia in the third. Mark DeRosa also added an RBI in the ninth to extend the Cubs lead to 6-4 win. The Brewers wouldn’t die though everytime the Cubbies would get a lead the Brewers would bounce back with Ryan Braun and JJ Hardy hit solo HRS’ in the sixth and Prince Fielder drove in Bo Hart to take the lead 3-2. The Cubs bounced back after a throwing error by Rickie Weeks scored Fukudome and Ronny Cedeno to take the lead 4-3 in the top of the seventh. Russell Brayan jacked a solo HR to tie the score in the bottom of the seventh. Chad Gaudin picked up his seventh win of the season as the Cubs handed Solomon Torres his third loss in relief. Starter Ted Lilly went 6 innings giving up two home runs and allowed three runs off seven hits in a no decision, while CC Sabathia went six and two third allowing nine hits, 3 earned runs and one homer for a no decision. Carlos Marmol picked up fifth save on the season. Game two is tonight at 8 o’clock on WGN. Today the Cubs reported they are not sure when Kerry Wood will return from his blister so Jeff Smardijza will stick around a little longer as hie picked up his first MLB save on Sunday. Chicago looks to extend their 2 game lead on Milawuakee in the NL Central as Carlos Zambrono face Ben Sheets in a battle of aces.
