Have the Cubs bats finally come alive? It wasn’t just the bats tonight though as Carlos Zambrono (12-4) shut down the Brewers offense by going eight scoreless innnings, struck out 9 and allowing only five hits. Thanks to a 5 run 6th inning where the offense had seven straight hits. Aramis Ramirez led the offense by going 4-for-5 with three straight doubles and one single and one RBI. The middle of the order  Ramirez, Koskuke Fukudome and Mark Derosa combined for 5 Runs batted in, while going 7-for-14 at the plate. Jeff Smardizja came in and pitched the ninth giving up the lone run.  I have one question are there more Cubs fans than Brewers fans attending these games? It appears so to me. Aslong as the bats are clicking on all cyclinders and Zambrono, Dempster and Hardin stay healthy there is no reason why a World Series Champioship isn’t far off. Its only July and we have 2 months left so anything can happen but there is reason to believe in the Cubbies. I think this sereis is a preview of the NLCS as these two teams are clearly the class of the NL. With two games left in the series the Cubs hold a three game lead over the Brewers in NL Central and a four game lead over Cardinals as they handle the Braves in their series.
