The Britsh Open is coming up and as you all know Eldrick “Tiger” Woods will not be playing.  Now rather than take advantage of the fact that “TW” will not be playing, and step up and show the rest of us why we should spend a weekend watching, No! this was a chance for some players to take jabs at Tiger.  Lets see……….if I can make this as clear as possible……Tiger is not bigger than golf granted, but Tiger represents what we all want to see in sports………CONSISTANCY.  While the rest of the players on the tour are happy with winning 1 or maybe 2 tournaments a year, Tiger tries to win every one he plays in.  While Tiger rarely has a bad game, the rest of you rarely have a good one. While it is acceptable to the rest of the field to come in the top 10 in all the time.  Tiger wants to be number 1 all the time anything less is unacceptable.  That is why we watch sports.  We want to see our teams or in this case our athletes come to dominate every single time they step on the playing field or course.  That’s what Jack Nicklaus, and Arnold Palmer did and we watched. Answer this……….How many times has a course been changed because you dominated the course so effortlessly? You see Tiger has put up with a lot of crap since he stepped on the scene, from constant criticisim to racial slamming and yet thru all that he comes to dominate.  That is why we watch.  Tiger doesn’t talk trash unless you provoke him, then he shows up and not only backs it up but he (as they say in football) lays the wood (no pun intended).  Like Mike Tyson was once in boxing , Tiger is to golf…….as soon as you see Tiger you start fighting for second place.  Here is your chance to show us that Tiger does’nt matter.  Step your game up so when he comes back, he will know he has a fight on his hands.  Put up the numbers Tiger put up on a consistant basis, play thru pain and controversy and still win.  Make us want to watch and we will.  We wake up in the mornings expected to be the best at what we do and we expect the same from our teams and athletes.  Tiger delivers and basically the rest of the field don’t.  Funny how Tiger is not playing and you guys are still fighting for second place!!!!!!!!!!( the first loser!)  TIGER WOODS WINS THE BRITISH OPEN IN 08.
