With the No. 1 pick in the 2008 NBA Draft the Chicago Bulls select Derrick Rose from the University of Memphis.  Rose will be playing for his hometown city as the newest face of the Bulls. Rose led the Tigers to the NCAA title game.  He is NBA ready and I real he will do very well playing in front of his home crowd.  The second pick in the draft was Michael Beasly going to the Miami Heat.  Beasly averaged 26.2 points, thrid in the nation and topped Div I with 12.4 rebounds per game.  With this pick Beasly may bring some Heat back to Miami.

This was the first time in Draft history that 12 freshman were selected.  This beat last years record of eight.  A few winners from last night had to be Derrick Rose going to the Bulls.  O.J. Mayo going to 3rd to the Minnesota Timberwovles then getting traded to Memphis for Kevin Love of UCLA.  I feel he is a better fit with the Grizzles.  Portland picking up Paul Allen and with last years No. 1 pick Greg Oden the Blazers are getting better and they are also getting more talent each year.  My sleeper pick may just stay the same for this coming year.  Also UCLA guard Russell Westbrook being the first non-freshmen selected by the Seattle Supersonics.  Westbrook put a smile on Rookie of the Year Kevin Durant’s face as he gave him a standing ovation.

Here are the top 10 picks from last nights Draft:

  1. Chicago  -  Derrick Rose  -  G
  2. Miami  -  Michael Beasly  -  PF
  3. Minnesota  -  O.J. Mayo  -  SG
