The Slipper Fits

Fresno St finished off Georgia last night with  6-1 victory and won the best of three series. It was a tough series with Georgia winning game one then Fresno St. came back and won the next two with their back against the wall. This is the lowest seed ever to win a championship. this was the school’s first in baseball. Fresno had been on the road since May 15th were they had to play as underdogs the whole time they were gone. They won their conference tourney, then had to beat nationally ranked San Diego twice to make it to the Super Regional against #3 seed Arizona St. While in Tempe against ASU the Bulldogs lost the first game then had to win the next two games to make it to Omaha. Once Fresno made it to Omaha the journey didn’t end but they won their first two games to be in the drivers seat on their side of the bracket. That meant facing North Carolina to make it to the championship were UNC took game one 4-3 forcing a game two where Fresno adavanced with a 6-1 victory to face Georgia for the title. Georgia didn’t lose a game until Fresno St. won 19-10 in game 2 to force a game 3. Fresno took control of game three from the begining and never giving it up winning 6-1.  Fresno willed their way to the championship with scappy play, good calls by their manager, and by just playing baseball. Awesome job Fresno St hope you remember your way home.
