New Start For Feenstra
For the third time in four WNBA seasons, Katie Feenstra will open the year on a new team. Not just any team but the new Atlanta Dream. The 6-8 center and the expansion Atlanta Dream are scheduled to tip off their inaugural season Saturday at 4pm, in Connecticut. The Connecticut Sun are the team that drafted Feenstra with the eighth pick in the 2005 draft. She soon was traded to the San Antonio Silver Stars on draft day. She played two seasons with the Stars before going to the Detroit Shock for the 2007 year. She helped lead the Shock to the Finals that year. Feenstra was taken by Atlanta during the Feb. 6 expansion draft. Coming to Atlanta she brings much leadership and experience. She is not the only experienced player on this brand-new squad. Players like guard Betty Lennox and Iziane Castro Marques, but this team will still rely on young players like second-year point guard Ivory Latta and first round pick Tamera Young.
After Atlanta opens its season at Connecticut, the Dream will return home for their home opener against Detroit, May 23 at 7:30pm. Atlanta Dream will only make one national Televised apperance this year and that will be on July 1st against WNBA Champs Phoenix Mercury.
