Sidelineshow NFL Power rankings

Written on May 13, 2008 – 6:12 pm | by chanceblack |

nfl-logo.png  Now that the draft is over lets see who heads the list.  Power rankings will be based on schedule and quality of talent.  This is just a pre-season ranking will do a another at the start of the season. Fell free to comment or give us your power rankings.

). Patriots  the Pats have the easiest schedule and the most talented team. a As long as everyone stays healthy and Spygate is closed the pats will be hard to beat.

). Giants,  The Champs are still the Champs till someone beats them.  The Giants may have to go for a repeat without some key players,  but by the looks of it they will be set to give it a run.

.)Cowboys,  With probably the second most talented team in the NFL and a sour taste in their mouth from last season, look for the Boys to make this season their break out year.

.) Colts,  The Colts did not make any real big moves and was able to get Dominic Rhodes back to help J.Addai.  They will be hard to overtake in the AFC.

.) Chargers,  They have the best player and are ready to give the Colts and Pats all they can handle in the AFC.  Can L.T. handle the full time duty without M.Turner  will be the question.

.) Steelers,  The Steelers have a 1,2 punch that will be the key to their success.  Adding a tall WR at the request of Big Ben will make the offense a nightmare to defend against.

.) Jaguars, This a young, talented team.  The Jags feel like they are one of the elite in the AFC.  Can David Gerrard duplicate last years performance?

). Browns,  Browns have not had a such a talented group since the Cardiac Kids.  The most exciting offense will be put to the test. If they can come out 10-6 this year they will make the playoffs.

).Eagles, With the addition of Asante Samuels and a healthy D.McNabb the Eagles are poised to make a run at the playoffs and NFC EAST title.

.)Seahawks, The NFC WEST champs should repeat this year.  With Mike Holmgren retiring at the end of the season, the Hawks will play their best football so he can go out with a bang.

.)Saints,  Can the Saints Defense help out the offense?  Some key additions will help out. the NFC SOUTH is theirs to lose.

.)Packers,  Aaron Rodgers has the keys to the castle.  The Pack have a great Defense,  the offense will have to be equally effective.

.)Vikings, Defense is solid and they have the reigning rookie of the year in Adrian Peterson.  Can they make a push for the NFC NORTH title with Tavares Jackson?

.)Redskins, the Skins will be tough if the young WRs catch on and they help Jason Campbell get hot.  Defense has some question marks, but have always been solid.

.)Buccaneers, The NFC SOUTH champs have a lot QBs and will need to settle on one.  Cadillac Williams will need to stay healthy for the offense to click. bringing back Warrick Dunn may help.

.)Titans, Not sure why the Titans did not get a WR to help Vince Young. They are still good enough to make life tough for the AFC SOUTH tho.

.)Cardinals, Everybody’s sexy cinderella pick will have to prove that they are not just a middle of the road team.  So much talent, not enough heart.  Maybe they find it this year.

.)Jets, All the money the Jets spent this offseason will help them at least be competitive this year.  QB play will be key. Defense will be solid, just not convinced that it will be enough.

.)Panthers, Jake will be back at QB this year after elbow surgery.  Will he be effective is the question in the minds of Panther fans.  Steve Smith will have some help from the running game this year.

.)Bills, The Bills have not really improved over last years team. they will have a tough task trying to compete in the AFC EAST.  Losman or Edwards will have to stand out as the true starter.

.)Texans, One of the youngest teams in the NFL, but will have a tough road in the AFC SOUTH.  RB play will be key for the offense to be effective.

.)Ravens, The QB situation will be akey to help the Ravens return to the playoffs.  How fast can Joe Flacco get the Offense.  Flacco will give the Raven the best chance to win.  Defense is still solid but are aging fast.  How much more do they have in the tank?

.)Broncos, The Broncos have too many holes to really make a run this year.  they may not even be the second best team in the AFC WEST.

.) Marc Bulger’s injury last year hurt the Rams.  This team is getting old fast. Bringing in Chris Long will help the D and Steven Jackson will have to be the offense this year.

.)Chiefs, The Draft help the rebuilding of the Chiefs franchise. It will take a couple of years to get this team right.  I wont be surprised if the Chiefs land in second place in the AFC WEST.  The Draft picks they got are that talented.

.)Lions, The Predicton of Jon Kitna of 10 win season almost came true last year.  This years team will not be so lucky. This team has a lot of problems.

.)49ers, The Alex Smith project is still ongoing. Frank Gore will be key to keep the Mike Martz Offense gameplan alive.  Getting some WRs would have been nice in the Draft.

.)Bengals, Once a superbowl contender, now Marvin Lewis is on the hot seat. Chad Johnson not playing this year will hurt.  Lewis could have gotten so many pieces with a trade. Lets hope that this team can get it together thier schedule is brutal.

.)Dolphins, Bill Parcells will need a couple of years to make this team relevent again.  Starting with Jake Long was a good start. With a new coach and new gameplan it will be a work in progress.  This years schedule doesn’t help either.

.)Raiders,  Al Davis has got to go.  He is really putting this team behind the eight ball.  Getting Darren McFadden was a bad move.  There were too many holes that needed to be filled.  McFadden could give the Offense a spark.

.)Bears, Lovie Smith got this team to the Superbowl 2 years ago.  Nowthis team is no where near as good as that team was.  Too many off-field problems and the defense is not as scary.  Devan Hester will need to score a lot because the offense will not be effective.

.)Falcons, rebuilding, rebuilding, rebuilding. It started at the draft and it continues with the releases and trades of Falcon fan favorites.  Coach Smith and Arthur Blank will have their hands full tryin to put a competetive team on the field, and more importantly the Fans.
