Jets draft Grade

Written on May 12, 2008 – 9:52 am | by chanceblack |

jets.jpg A lot of Jets Fans were hoping that Darren McFadden would fall to the Jets,  But the Jets had a back-up plan in case he was taken.

What the Jets needed: RB, WR, DL,LB

Who the Jets got:

Round 1, Pick 6 (6): Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio State

Round 1, Pick 30 (30) (From Packers): Dustin Keller, TE, Purdue

Round 4, Pick 14 (113) (From Saints through Packers): Dwight Lowery, CB, San Jose State

Round 5, Pick 27 (162) (From Packers): Erik Ainge, QB, Tennessee

Round 6, Pick 5 (171): Marcus Henry, WR, Kansas

Round 7, Pick 4 (211): Nate Garner, OT, Arkansas

After spending a lot of money in free agency, the Jets made the best of what they could in the draft.  Not sure why you move back in the first round for Keller.  Keller is a good prospect, But needing a RB and you get a TE?  I do however like the Ainge pick-up,  Giving Pennington and Clemens a little heat in traing camp.  You will see a true starter emerge from the ashes.

GRADE: B+
