College Football Playoffs

Why can’t the commissioners of Division 1 College figure out a playoff system? It eventually has to happen. This is the only major sport that doesn’t have a playoff. Don’t tell me its because the players would miss to much class. Every other college football division has one, so why isn’t it a problem for them having one? If it is about money then I think I have a solution.

Why can’t we have a sixteen team playoff with a single elimination playoff. Just do away with the Conference Championship game. Have the higher ranked teams play at those Conference Championship sites hosted by the Conference that have a Conference Championship as the first round of the playoff. When they usually have the Conference Championship game . Then have the eight remaining teams play at the BCS bowl sights, with the National Championship Game rotating every year like we have now.
Then there wouldn’t be a dispute every year of who is the National champion or who should play in the Championship Game. Then have all the rest of teams that make it bowl eligible play at the bowl sight they would normally play at. It would be no different then what the NCAA does when they have the NIT in basketball. That way you still would make the same amount of money or more.

The sooner the big guys that control NCAA football figure out its not about them or there money and make it about the players and people who pay the money to see there favorite team play every Fall. The college football world might be better off. The Big Ten and Pac Ten might have to put there precious pride aside with the Rose Bowl which in my mind has lost its luster of the past to make this playoff dream a reality.
