The Next Crop
As I followed High School basketball this year, there are some kids who have caught my attention. These young men are blessed with a special talent and paint a picture of greatness to follow. I would like to inform you of the elite few that will lead this next crop of players. They will all have to make a hard decisions after one year of college to stay or play in the NBA.
The first kid is Greg Monroe from Harvey, Louisiana. Arguably the best player in High School. He is a 6’10” power forward that will be attending the University of Georgetown. Greg is a kid that can do everything from posting up on the block to shooting from three point range. I compare him to Kevin Durant. He has a lot of pressure on him to follow all the great big men that attend Georgetown.
The next kid comes from North Hollywood, California. His name is Jrue Holiday (pronounced Drew). I believe he is the next Derrick Rose, with better handles. Jrue can shoot with either hand which makes him just as hard to guard. He will be attending UCLA in the fall to play along side his brother. So watch out for UCLA to be stacked in the back court again.
Then there is Demar Derozan a 6’5” athletic guard from Compton, California. He will be attending USC this fall. There is some question surrounding how he has arrived at USC. Demar plays alongside Lil Romeo who’s dad, Master P, coaches their summer team. Its going around that Lil Romeo got a scholarship to USC as long as Demar joined him.
With every year there is going to be the question who is the next star and will they make a pit stop for one year in college. I believe these three young men are the next stars in the making. So look out at a campus near you for them. They might not be there long.
