Jason Maxiell and Antonio McDyess

Antonio McDyess last season in the Eastern Conference finals was left sitting on the bench in game 5.  You all remember this was the night Lebron James went off on the Pistons.  McDyess was looking rejected and knew that his team blew the chance of going to the NBA finals.  McDyess wasn’t with the Pistons back in 2004 when they won the championship, and now McDyess out of all the Pistons seems to be the one that wants it the most.  McDyess after the loss in game 3 was reportedly preaching while the team was a video of game 3.  McDyess was reportedly saying” WERE GOING TO BE ALRIGHT.”  and if last nights performance by McDyess is any indication then the Pistons will be on there way to the NBA finals.

Flip Saunders out of all the coaches remaining in the NBA playoffs has the most pressure.  Saunders by many fans of the Pistons has under achieve.  Saunders has not yet taking this team to the finals and has not yet been to the Championship.  The loss to the heat back in 2006 and the lost to the Cavaliers last season.  The Pistons fans have this to say to Sanders” GET US TO THE FINALS OR GET OUT.” A part of the criticism is the lack of Saunders not using the Pistons bench.  Last night Saunders went ahead and used his bench.  The Pistons bench last night scored 22 points.  Lead by off the bench Jason Maxiell with 14.  Maxiell who averaged 7 points during the season came off the bench last night and provided a spark for the Pistons.  In all the Pistons had 5 double figures in scoring lead by McDyess who had 21 points and 16 rebounds.  As a team they shot 51% from the floor. Chauncey Billups had this to say about the performance of Antonio McDyess.”Dice has been our best player in the postseason, and we’re all feeding off his energy, “You see how hard he is working, and you can’t help but play hard.” The Celtics seemed to be a step slower than the Pistons.  The Celtics shot for 21-66 from the floor at 31%.  Doc Rivers had this to say”They bumped us off spots and were more physical and aggressive all night, “Usually the winner is the team that was more aggressive.” The point guard spot was the down side for the Celtics.  Rondo, Cassell and House had a combine 4 points.  The Pistons and the Celtics are now tied up in the best of seven at 2-2.  Game 5 will be on Wednesday night.  Game note who ever wins game 5 normally wins the series 83% of the time.
