Green Machine- Celtics 110 Hawks 85!!!
The Atlanta Hawks came into game 5 with house money. Games 3 and 4 at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta not only made there season sucessful but it more than likely saved the job of Mike Woodsen head coach of the Hawks but the Hawks had more on there mind with pulling off one of the bigest upsets not only in NBA playoff history but sports history.
The crowd in Boston was on edge and wanted to make this game real hard for the young Hawks and they suceeded. The Hawks seemed at points in the game overwhelmed about being on the road and the Boston crowd knew. The big ticket Kevin Garnett was all over the place scoring and defending the Celtics had 6 players in double figures lead by Paul Pierce with 22. The Celtics shot 53 percent from the floor and was 9-20 from three point range at 45%. As for the Hawks they were lead in scoring by Joe Johnson with 21.”I won’t say we lost our composure,” Johnson said. “It’s tough when it feels like things aren’t going your way. Temper tantrums tend to fly, and that’s part of it.” To make matters worse for the Hawks Mike Bibby only scored 6 points he was 2 of 8 from the field in 39 minutes. Also Bibby only had one assist in the whole game. The Hawks and Celtics continue there battle on Friday night in Atlanta. Boston looks to close out the series in Atlanta. Boston now leads 3-2
