Best In the West- Hornets 101 Spurs 79!!!

David West not too long ago in the start of his NBA career was label as he is too small to play power forward and is to slow to play small forward so what do you do with him? West has answered the questions with I am one of the best forwards in the game today period. It can be small or power West can play both and last night West put on a performance in Hornets history will go down as one of the best. West last night scored a career high 38 points 14 rebounds shot 16-25 from the floor as the Hornets take a comanding 3-2 lead in the best of seven from the Spurs.

The Spurs are now facing elimination going back home for a game 6 on Thursday. The 4 time champs have a lot to think about facing the young and hungry Hornets. The Spurs for game 5 shot 29-77 at 37% and from three point range 9-23. Duncan continues to struggle at 5-18 from the floor with 10 points. The leading scorer for the Spurs was Ginobli with 20. Parker had 18 but the rest of the Spurs were just flat out awful. In the third quarter the Spurs out scored the Hornets 28-11. “They did a great job of crowding the paint and also getting back to our shooters,” Duncan said of the Hornets’ defenders. “They were very physical on the post. I didn’t shoot the ball very well and those opportunities kind of turned into them running it back at us.” Bryon Scott head coach for the Hornets had this to say”We’ve proved all season long we’re one of the better teams in the NBA,” Hornets coach Byron Scott said. “We had every reason after Games 3 and 4 to fold, but again, being with these guys, they’ve showed this type of resilience all season, so I’m not surprised.” Can the Hornets close out the Champs? We will find out Thursday night in San Antonio.
