Rams Draft Grade

April 30, 2008 |

475119.gif The St.Louis Rams got the second pick, and let the cat out of the bag on draft day which player they were selecting.  Let’s see how the rest of the draft went.

What the Rams needed: WR, OL, DL, LB, CB

What the Rams Drafted:

Round 1, Pick 2 (2): Chris Long, DE, Virginia

Round 2, Pick 2 (33): Donnie Avery, WR, Houston

Round 3, Pick 2 (65): John Greco, OT, Toledo

Round 4, Pick 2 (101): Justin King, CB, Penn State

Round 4, Pick 29 (128) (From Packers): Keenan Burton, WR, Kentucky

Round 5, Pick 22 (157) (From Titans through Redskins): Roy Schuening, OG, Oregon State

Round 7, Pick 21 (228) (From Redskins): Chris Chamberlain, DB, Tulsa

Round 7, Pick 45 (252) (Compensatory selection): David Vobora, OLB, Idaho

The Rams had a classic Draft.  They filled all needs and got some depth at the same time.  You could question which need was more important and who they picked.  The WR pick of Avery had me wondering why Avery?  There were clearly mor talented WRs on the board. C.Long is a machine at DE, he will be a great addition to the front 4 of the Rams.

FINAL GRADE: A-
