Dolphins Draft Breakdown
Ok let’s breakdown the draft picks by team and see how the did. The grade will be based on NEEDS, VALUE, TALENT.
First up the Miami Dolphins
What they needed: QB, WR, OL, DL, CB, S
What they got:
1. Dolphins: OT Jake Long, Michigan
2 Miami Dolphins: DE Merling, Phillip, Clemson
2 Miami Dolphins (From Chargers): QB Henne, Chad, Michigan
3 Miami Dolphins: Langford, Kendall, DT, Hampton
4 Miami Dolphins (From Bears): Murphy, Shawn, OT, Utah State
Round 6, (From Lions): Jalen Parmele, RB, Toledo
Round 6, (From Cowboys): Donald Thomas, OG, Connecticut
Round 6, (Compensatory selection): Lex Hilliard, RB, Montana
Round 7, (Compensatory selection): Lionel Dotson, DE, Arizona
At first look the Dolphins went after all the important needs in the first four rounds. Jake Long will be a pro-bowl caliber O-Lineman. Merling will give J.Taylor a rest if he stays. The question is where is the WR? there where plenty to choose from. The secondary was not addressed either there where some really good CB’s and Safeties still on the board in the 5th round. They could have moved up to address at least one of them. OVERALL GRADE: A-, B+
