The 2008 season finally kicked off for the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays with a rain out yesterday both team were ready to go at it tonight and get the season started.  For the Yanks this is there final season opener for the old stadium it’s been 85 years at the same address and now the house that Ruth built will now be moving on not too far right across where the new Stadium is being built but with all that said the Yanks wanted to start of the 2008 season with a win over the division opponents the Toronto Bue Jays.

The first pitch for new Yankee season was thrown by Mr. October Reggie Jackson.  The 55,000 crowd gave a nice cheer for the Yanks and also Andy Pettite and with all the steriods talk the New York fans just wanted to move on.  Toronto had there Ace Roy Holiday who as usual pitched a solid game going 7 innings and give up 3 runs and 3 strike outs.  For the Yanks Chien Ming Wang he also went 7 innings 6 hits and 2 earn runs with 2 strike outs.  At the plate for the Yanks Caberea hit a 6 inning homerun Johnny Damon had a big triple and Alex Rodriguez drove in a run. The Yankes then turned it over to the bullpen with Joba Chamberlain who came in the 8th and struck out Frank Thomas to end the inning and Mariano Rivera closed the door to get his first save of the season.  The Yanks and Toronto continue there battle tomorrow at Yankee Stadium.
