Big Man Hall of Fame-Ewing & Olajuwon !!!

Patrick Ewing and Hakeem Olajuwon may have been in a era we will never see again and that’s two centers competing at a high level and being the Center point of there team. You look at today’s game and its all about the Guards and Forwards Shaquille O’Neal did in his short time in the begining of his career took on Houston and Hakeem Olajuwon was to much for him. I would’ve love to see the match up if O’Neal had a couple more season under him and it would’ve been a basketball fans dream matchup.

Patrick Ewing who went to the finals and took on Olajuwon and lost in 7 games this was the last compeling match up with two big men. Ewing career stats is as follows Honors: Rookie of Year (1985); All-NBA First Team (1990); All-NBA Second Team (1988, ‘89, ‘91, ‘92, ‘93, ‘97); All-Defensive Second Team (1988, ‘89, ‘92); 11-time NBA All-Star; One of 50 Greatest Players in NBA History (1996); Two-time Olympic gold medalist (1984, ‘92).
Hakeem Olajwon statsHonors: NBA champion (1994, ‘95); NBA Finals MVP (1994, ‘95); NBA MVP (1994); Defensive Player of Year (1993, ‘94); All-NBA First Team (1987, ‘88, ‘89, ‘93, ‘94, ‘97); All-NBA Second Team (’86, ‘90, ‘96); Third Team (1991, ‘95, ‘99); All-Defensive First Team (’87, ‘88, ‘90, ‘93, ‘94); 12-time All-Star; One of 50 Greatest Players in NBA History (’96); Olympic gold medalist (’96).

Patrick Ewing and Hakeem Olajuwon are 2 of the 3 (Shaquille O’Neal) best big-men of the basketball and hip-hop culture fusion that was born in 1984 that is now known as The “Dunkadelic-Era” In America, 1984-Present. The “Dunkadelic-Era” will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary during the year 2009. The Ewing vs. Olajuwon epic battle in 1984 was a major historical and cultural event as Georgetown coach John Thompson became the 1st African American coach to win an NCAA Championship. Michael Jordan and his “Air Jordan’s” became icon symbols but Ewing and Olajuwon are major contributor’s to the era.
