Wiggins Went Out With A Bang For Her Last Game
March 25, 2008 |
Stanford’s star senior Candice Wiggins played her last game at Maples Pavilion last night as Stanford beat UTEP 88-54. She had a fun time entertaining the crowd as she blew kisses and waved good-bye to her last home game. Wiggins was pretty much unstoppable as she matched a school-record with 44pts, the third most in NCAA tourney history. She is just behind Sheryl Swoopes, who scored 47 pts against OSU in 1993.
“It means so much”, said Wiggins as she walked arm in arm with coach Tara VanDerveer. She was a complete monster on the court last night. She hit the long 3s, blocked shots and she found her teammates and hit them with pretty passes all night. She is also the Pac-10 all-time scoring leader. Of course, she wants to make it to Tampa and not just to play in the Final Four but to also be among the lucky ladies selected on Draft day. Atlanta Dream, I hope you are watching.
