The Saints are finding out that to be a winner you need consistent play from everyone.  Reggie Bush’s off field issues may have been a distraction to him, and Duece McAllister was injured for most of the season.  The real problem for the Saints was not only inconsistence but Defense as well.  The secondary was suspect, and there was no real pass rush.  With the 10th pick they can get a player to help the D.  There will be a few choices to go with.

The Saints will select:   CB, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Tennessee State  This guy may have come from Div.1AA but at the Senior Bowl really showed he could have played on a bigger team.  His 4.33 40yr dash at the combine made scouts take a serious look at his talents.

Jonathan Goodwin (C) re-signed (one-year contract).

Jonathan Vilma (LB) traded (for a conditional 2009 4th-round pick).

Brian Young (DT) re-signed/unrestricted free agent.
Mark Simoneau (LB) re-signed/unrestricted free agent.

Devery Henderson (WR) re-signed/unrestricted free agent.

Randall Gay (CB) signed/unrestricted free agent (four-year contract).

Bobby McCray (DE) signed/unrestricted free agent (five-year contract).
David Patten (WR) re-signed/unrestricted free agent (two-year contract

Dan Morgan (LB) signed.

Eric Johnson (TE) re-signed/unrestricted free agent (one-year contract).

Mark Brunell (QB) signed/unrestricted free agent (two-year contract).

The Saints are definately looking to bolster the D with some quality players.  The only one in question would be Dan Morgan.  With the state of players suffering from concussions in the NFL he maybe a liability.  Although he could provide some much needed leadership in the locker room.  Signing more WRs and a Back-up to Drew Brees also helps.
