J E T S….JETS,JETS,JETS on the clock
The New York Jets are on the clock. They have already made some monster moves in free agency by signing O-Line star A.Faneca. They have also spent the most money in free agency. Needless to say they want to keep up with the Pats or at least be competetive in the AFC EAST. Trying to mold themselves after the CHAMPS the Giants. The Jets are really concentrating on a power run system. Problem here is the QB play is uncertain. Pennington stays hurt and Clemens is inconsistent. On the Defense side of the ball the Jets were trying to run a 3-4 system with 4-3 people. Recent moves have somewhat solved the problem, so with 6th pick they could be in postion to get a defesive specialist to complete the puzzle.
The Jets select: DE, Vernon Gholston, Ohio State this guy is a 3-4 tweener and sack artist who had a very strong showing at the combine. He ran a 4.67 forty and was 4th in the nation in sacks with 13 in 2007.
free agent pick-ups:
Alan Faneca (G) signed/unrestricted free agent (five-year contract).
Kris Jenkins (DT) traded (for 2008 3rd- and 5th-round draft picks).
Calvin Pace (LB) signed/unrestricted free agent (six-year contract).
Damien Woody (G) signed/unrestricted free agent (five-year contract).
Andre Woolfolk (CB) signed
Tony Richardson (RB) signed/unrestricted free agent.
Jesse Chatman (RB) signed/unrestricted free agent (one-year contract).
Artrell Hawkins (S) signed.
just by the looks of these guys the Jets have gotten better. Qb play will be paramount for the Jets. It is clear that the Jets are going to run the ball next season.
