Overtime Showdown - Lakers Win Over Mavs
Sunday’s double-header on ABC ended with the Los Angeles Lakers facing the Dallas Mavericks. This Sunday’s match-up was just what everybody was looking for from players like Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki…..they didn’t disappoint the NBA fans. Kobe started off some what slow, but after three quarters, the Black Mamba had a 22 points and during one stretch had missed 5-of-8 free throws.
Then the 4th quarter came and you know just as well as I do that something in him flipped. The crazy man inside of him snapped and he went to add 22 more points to double his night. He finished with 52 pts. Dirk Nowitzki and Kobe traded baskets during crunch-time. Dirk finished with 30 pts, 13 rebounds and 5 assists.
The game came down to free-throw shooting and clutching playmaking. With 6 seconds left Lamar Odom would go to the free-throw line to shoot two. He would miss the foul shots but luckily for Odom, Kobe was there to grab the offensive rebound. Jason Kidd would foul Kobe which sent him to the line and he knocked down both shots to give L.A. the lead 93-90. Dallas got the ball back with under 6 seconds left. Dirk Nowitzki, nailed a game-tying 3 with 2 seconds left on the clock. This sent the game into overtime. Kobe and Dirk would trade shots, 3-for-3 but Dirk would be the one to come up short. He missed with 6 seconds left that would’ve tied the game at 107. Odom then got a chance to redeem himself at the line, and made one of two. L.A. wins the final score 108-104.
