Oh Manny-Red Sox 6 Oakland 5 !!!
The Red Sox and A’s kicked off there 2008 season. The Red Sox the defending champs is now going for there third title in five seasons and as for the A’s they’re trying to be competive again. The season was started in Japan were you might thought it was Fenway Park with a roof on it and no green monster the attendance 44,628 the name of the stadium is the Tokyo Dome.
The Red Sox pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka coming back home to Japan to start off the season was ok he went 5 innings gave up two runs and one of them was a homerun to Mark Ellis in the 1st inning the Sox had a 2-0 lead the Sox in the 6th took off Ramirez hit a double in the 6th drove in Pedroia which helped tied up at 2 and Brandon Moss a left field rookie drove in the go ahead run with a single to right and the Red Sox a 3-2 lead. Moss wasn’t finshed yet he hit a homerun in the 9th to tie it up at 4-4 and in extra innings Manny Ramierz hit another double in the 10th driving home two runs and help the Red Sox pick up there first victory of the year 6-5. Manny Ramirez drove in 4 RBI’S and is the fourth Red Sox in the past 50 years in and opening day game to drive in four runs. The winning pitcher Hideki Okajima 1-0 the save goes to Papelbon the loss for the A’s Huston Street 0-1.
