An Amazing Weekend
There were some terrific games played this past weekend in women’s college basketball. I hope some of you guys got a chance to check out some of these games. UNC played like they were in the Final Four. Erlana Larkins is a rebounding machine. She’s got a broken hand all wrapped up but still managed to get 18pts, 8 boards, 7 assists and 6 steals on Florida St. Chasing down a turnover she crashed into the scorers table landing on some folding chairs and collapsing the table on top of her.
There was a rematch of the ‘06 championship between the Maryland Terrapins and the Duke Blue Devils. Maryland started off great but the Dukies weren’t about to let them get the best of them in front of the home crowd. Maryland has not beaten them there since 2000. Also Maryland’s coach had a even better weekend as she gave birth to twin boys. Kristi Toliver had 23 pts, despite defenders in her face and Crystal Langhorne kept pulling down the boards and making the feeds from her teammates count.
Last but not least the Lady Vols must’ve still had the loss to LSU fresh in their minds because they didn’t let Vandy control the game for a minute. They dominated the entire game and played some smart fundamental ball with a lot less drama. It was a total team effort and they played through some foul trouble.
