Free Agent Friday

Written on February 28, 2008 – 7:48 pm | by chanceblack |

It’s Free Agent Friday and team owners will be breaking out the checkbooks in the NFL.  Here are some of the most sought after free agents.

Free agent: CB Asante Samuel
One of the best corners in the biz but will come at a hefty price.  Dolphins have the money, and Bill Parcells loves shutdown corners in his defense.  Problem here is Asante will want more money than the Dolphins may be willing to spend.

Free agent: G Alan Faneca     A solid O-lineman that can handle most pass rushers, also a pretty good run blocker as well.  Willie Parker will definately miss this guy.  The Jets would benefit going after this guy to help mentor and lead the Jets young O-Line.  Problem here is he wants to go to a contender and the Patriots don’t have a need for O-Line.

Free agent: WR Bernard Berrian    Deep threat and solid hands will make this guy a coveted free agent.  What team does’nt need one of these?  Raiders, Bucs, Titans have strong arm QB’s that will help the Offense.  Problem here is just two years removed from the superbowl Berrian may not jump at just any deal.

Free agent: WR D.J. Hackett  Solid WR, decent route runner made quite a few plays for the Seahawks.  This guy also comes with a bargain price with the right team.  Bucs, Cowboys, Giants, Falcons could make a run at Berrian.

Free agent: OT Flozell Adams   BIG, BIG, BIG MAN will open holes for any RB in the league.  Marion Barber is crying major tears.  The Dolphins, Vikings, Bears wil be battling for his services.

Free agent: LB Lance Briggs
here is one of the most sought after players.  A sack master, can cover most TE’s and RB’s, and tackles extremly well.  The Patriots, Eagles, Colts would love to have this guy running the Defense.

Free agent: RB Michael Turner  How San Diego kept this man for so long is beyond me.  He has been LT’s spell guy for the last few years and shown he can be a feature back anywhere.  Falcons, Bears, 49er’s, Broncos, will lead the bid war for this guy.

Free agent: QB Derek Anderson  After a OUTSTANDING season, Anderson is being treated like a step child in Cleveland.  The Browns are not going to open the bank for Anderson.  Brady Quinn is their insurance policy.  Anderson is in a “take what we give you or leave” situation.  The Vikings, 49er’s, Jets, Dolphins will make a strong push.

Free agent: DE Justin Smith
Pass-rusher expert and solid tackler will command a nice pay-check from Defensive minded teams for this guy.  Eagles, Giants,Redskins,Ravens, Browns are all going to look to sack this sack master.

Free agent: WR Donte’ Stallworth
Poor Donte can’t seem to catch a break and stop in one place for a long period of time.  Maybe the 3rd times the charm for Stallworth. Tians, Cowboys, Jets, Chargers may be in the hunt to get this guy.

Free agent: WR Randy Moss  SUPERBOWL ring or Bust the Bank will be the motto for any team wanting the most dangerous WR in the game. Patriots, Cowboys, Packers, will be fueding furiously for Moss.

Free agent: LB Michael Boley  One of the few bright spots on the Falcons team this year.  Versitile, fast, smart makes Boley a good addition to any Defense. Falcons,Patriots, Saints,Jets, Giants could be making Boley a rich man.

Free agent: S Gibril Wilson  Superbowl champion Saftey always looks good on your resume. Wilson has speed, smarts and cover talent.  Look for the Eagles, Giants, Saints, Ravens to try and lock him down.

Free agent: RB Julius Jones
Wants to prove he is a feature back in this league.  Productive between the tackle type runner, with decent speed.  Bears, Broncos, Texans will give Jones a hard look on Friday.
